On December 29, Power Project Management Board 3 (Vietnam Electricity Group - EVN) started construction of Hieu Liem Bridge under the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project.

Accordingly, Hieu Liem bridge is 249.5m long, 9m wide, spanning the Dong Nai river right at the existing Hieu Liem ferry terminal (Tri An commune, Vinh Cuu district).

The bridge is about 650m from the outlet of the expanded Tri An Hydropower Plant's discharge canal and about 9km downstream from the existing Tri An Hydropower Plant's spillway.

The starting point of the bridge is on the left side of the river (Tri An commune), the access road is 91.3m long. The ending point of the bridge is on the right side of the river (former Hieu Liem commune, now Tri An commune), the access road is 137.2m long.

As expected, Hieu Liem Bridge will be completed after one year of construction. This is the first item of the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project.

According to EVN General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan, in order to meet the increasing demand for consumer loads and take advantage of excess water discharged during the annual flood season, EVN has proposed investing in the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project.

In 2020, the project was approved for investment by the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee. The Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project has a total investment capital of up to 3,965 billion VND. The project will start construction in the first quarter of 2025 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2027.

In particular, the project will build 2 more units with a total installed capacity of 200 MW. Once put into operation, it will contribute to increasing the ability to mobilize capacity for loads in the Southern region, especially during peak hours.

Thereby, contributing to improving the working mode of the power system (increasing hydroelectric power and peak power of the load chart, increasing flexibility in operation, increasing reliability and safety coefficient...).

At the ceremony, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, said that along with Hieu Liem Bridge, Vinh Cuu District has recently started construction of the road leading to Hieu Liem Bridge.

Mr. Duc requested relevant units to build Hieu Liem Bridge and the approach roads on both sides of the bridge to ensure progress, construction quality, traffic and labor safety, and environmental sanitation. Minimize production and business activities of people and enterprises in the area.

Increasing the capacity of Tri An Hydropower Plant to 600 MW

Tri An Hydropower Plant is built on Dong Nai River, flowing through Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai Province, 65km from Ho Chi Minh City.

The plant was built with financial and technological support from the Soviet Union from 1984, generating power from unit 1 on April 30, 1988 and inaugurated in 1991.

Tri An Hydropower Plant has 4 units, with a total designed capacity of 400 MW, average annual electricity output of 1.7 billion kWh.

Tri An Hydropower Plant has contributed to providing energy for the socio-economic development of 16 southern provinces and cities, ensuring industrial and domestic water sources for millions of people, and irrigation water for more than 20,000 hectares of rice fields and land in the downstream area.

With the installation of two new generators, the Tri An hydropower expansion project, upon completion, will increase the total capacity of the entire project to 600 MW.
