Bich Tuyen (yellow shirt) and the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face "high mountains" at the 2025 World Volleyball Championship.

The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship attracts 32 teams, divided into 8 groups (4 teams each). The teams compete in a round robin to select the first and second teams in each group to advance to the quarterfinals. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team won a ticket to participate thanks to their 4th place in the Asian Championship.

According to the FIVB draw rules, host Thailand is seeded No. 1 and is in Group A, the remaining 7 seeds are determined based on the world rankings: Italy (No. 1 in the world), Brazil (No. 2), USA (No. 3), Turkey (No. 4), China (No. 5), Poland (No. 6), Japan (No. 7). With a world ranking of 33, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is in the bottom group and it is not surprising that they have to face stronger opponents.

2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship Draw Results, Vietnam Team Sets Goal to Try Their Best in Each Match Against Stronger Opponents

The draw results put the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in Group G, along with Poland, Germany (ranked 12th in the world), Kenya (ranked 22nd in the world). The remaining representative of the Southeast Asian region is Thailand (ranked 13th in the world) in the same group with the Netherlands (ranked 9th), Sweden (ranked 24th) and Egypt (ranked 36th).

Speaking to Thanh Nien after seeing the draw results, head coach of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: "It was predicted that our team would have to face stronger opponents because we are at the bottom of the world rankings. Obviously, the two most formidable opponents are Poland and Germany. This is our first time participating in the world championship, so we hope that the players will not be mentally affected when competing with strong teams. We will prepare both physically and professionally with the goal of trying to play well in each match."

Vietnamese women's volleyball fans expect spiker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy to return to her peak form to join the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in conquering the world championship. In addition, spiker Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, who is playing well for LPBank Ninh Binh Club, also promises to combine with Thanh Thuy to create momentum for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team's attack. Also today, Bich Tuyen and LPBank Ninh Binh Club will compete in the World Club Championship in Hangzhou (China) but cannot create a surprise when they lose to NEC Red Rockets Club (Japan, Asian champion) with a score of 0-3.

The eight groups at the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship are as follows:

Group A: Thailand, Netherlands, Sweden, Egypt
