Easily winning 6-2 and 6-2 in the first two sets after only 76 minutes, Alcaraz made the crowd present at the All England Club's Centre Court feel very excited and comfortable.

However, in the third set, he began to face difficulties, when Djokovic displayed his bravery and "experience". Holding the serve to lead 5-4, Alcaraz missed 3 championship-points...

As soon as Djokovic won back the break-point to take control of the game, and leveled the score at 5-5, the young Spanish player's supporters felt extremely worried.

They fear that, by saving three championship-point losses, Djokovic will regain his confidence and come back to defeat his opponent with his usual mettle.

The set then went into a tie-break. Djokovic served first and led 1-0. However, Alcaraz won the next three points to take the lead 3-1.

Djokovic held on and fought back to level the match at 3-3. But from then on, Alcaraz controlled the tie-break. He won four of the final five points to lead 5-3 before winning the fourth championship point to win the tie-break of the set 7-4.

“Winning this trophy is a dream for me. I said in an interview when I was 11 or 12 that my dream was to win Wimbledon, so I am fulfilling my dream.”

“I would like to continue, but it is wonderful to play on this beautiful field, to lift this wonderful trophy. This is the most beautiful tournament, the most beautiful field and the most beautiful trophy,” Alcaraz happily shared at the award ceremony.

With this result, the young man from El Palmer became the 6th tennis player in history to win both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same season.

Before him, only his "senior" Rod Laver (1969), Bjorn Borg (1978, 1980), his "compatriot senior" Rafael Nadal (2008, 2010), then Roger Federer (2009), and even his "Serbian senior" Novak Djokovic (2021) achieved this earth-shattering "double".

Answering the question of how to win at Roland Garros and the All England Club, Alcaraz confided: "I think it's all about fighting and absolute confidence."

“It is a great honour for me to be part of the group of players who have won both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same season.”

“They are great champions. I don't consider myself a champion yet, not like them, but I will continue to build my path, my journey. This is a great honor for me.”

For his part, Djokovic said: “Obviously, this is not the result I wanted, especially in the first two sets. It was really sub-par tennis from me.”

“But credit to Carlos for playing perfect tennis. From the baseline, on serve, he did it all today.”

“I tried to push him, saved three match-point chances, to prolong the match a little bit more, but it really didn't make much sense anymore.”

“He was an absolutely deserving winner of today’s match. So congratulations to him for a fantastic match today.”
