With a cumulative GPA of 3.86/4, Mr. Duong Tan Luc excellently became the new valedictorian at the age of 35 .

Trying to replace father as the pillar of the family

Mr. Duong Tan Luc is a new graduate of Business Administration from Van Hien University. "I am extremely honored and surprised to be the valedictorian of the school, which is a great achievement in my life. I always believe that education has no age limit and have proven this by setting high goals and making constant efforts to reap the rewards," he said.

After graduating from the intermediate level of pharmacy at Kien Giang Medical College, Luc started working to make ends meet and take care of his family. In 2016, he left his hometown for Ho Chi Minh City to look for job opportunities and continue his studies . In 2019, introduced by friends, he enrolled in the business administration major at Van Hien University.

"My heart is full of youthful enthusiasm with dreams and determination, not only to gain professional knowledge, but more importantly, to build a career and contribute to society," the new valedictorian expressed.

Over the past 4 years, the young man from Kien Giang has faced many difficulties and obstacles to balance his studies and work. Mr. Luc said: "Especially at a time when the Covid-19 epidemic was taking place tensely, with the nature of my work in the medical field, I often went in and out of hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to provide epidemic prevention equipment. There was a time when I wanted to give up because I had to stay up many nights in a row to both perform my duties and complete my final thesis."

Born into a farming family of four siblings, Luc is the third child. "Family has always been my most important source of motivation. My father passed away 25 years ago due to a serious illness. My family tried to treat him, so after he passed away, we encountered many difficulties. It haunted my mind for a long time. My mother alone shouldered the burden of raising my siblings to study. My brother's health was also weak, so I told myself to overcome the trauma, try my best to study and work so that I could replace my father as the pillar of the family," he shared.

Believe in yourself and dedicate yourself to your goals

Sharing about his study method, Mr. Luc continued: "I prioritize evening classes after work. Except for force majeure cases such as illness, I do not miss any classes. Thanks to paying attention to lectures and understanding the lessons, I get high scores in my subjects."

In addition, Mr. Luc also participates in a volunteer group to help people in difficult circumstances, illnesses... "Participating in volunteer activities helps me receive a lot of joy and happiness. I can help people in difficult circumstances, contribute to the community, connect brothers and sisters with the same heart, wanting to share a small part with society," he said.

Mr. Luc is always active and enthusiastic in charity activities.

Currently, Mr. Luc is a specialist in supporting jobs and internships for students at the Center for Business Cooperation, Van Hien University. In the near future, he hopes to complete a master's program in business administration. If possible, he will continue to study for a doctorate.

Sending a message to young people, the new valedictorian shared: "Never give up on your dreams no matter what obstacles you encounter. If I can overcome difficulties and achieve success, so can you. Believe in yourself and dedicate yourself to the goals we have set."
