Today (August 21), the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to meet and encourage the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation before the delegation left for the Paris Paralympics in France from August 28 to September 8.

The Vietnamese disabled sports delegation will participate in the Paris Paralympics with 14 members, led by Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Nguyen Hong Minh. Of which, 7 athletes include Le Van Cong, Nguyen Binh An, Dang Thi Linh Phuong, Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (weightlifting); Do Thanh Hai, Le Tien Dat (swimming) and Pham Nguyen Khanh Minh (athletics).

Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy sent a sincere message to Ho Chi Minh City athletes and coaches participating in the Paris Paralympics.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said that Ho Chi Minh City is honored to contribute all members, including coaches and athletes, to the delegation to the Games and has made careful preparations with high determination. The success of the athletes is not only a source of pride for themselves but also an honor and pride for Vietnamese sports and Ho Chi Minh City sports. "Currently, the health and spirit of the athletes are very good, and they are ready to compete. The 2024 Paris Paralympics will be a great opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to demonstrate their extraordinary will and determination to overcome their own obstacles, confidently rise above themselves, and at the same time help them affirm their desire to win, integrate and contribute to the country's sports," Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan expressed.

Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee presented gifts to encourage athletes and coaches of the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation participating in the Paris Paralympics.

Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said: "I hope that the drops of sweat that the athletes have shed on the field are the clearest proof of the athletes' tireless efforts. The achievements in Paris are also very important, but they cannot be as important as our unity, cooperation, solidarity, and unity to complete the task well together. The achievements that you and your friends have achieved in the past have been and are inspiring me personally, for you and your friends and the youth of the city and the whole country."

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee awarded each athlete and coach of the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation a prize worth 30 million VND and agreed on the policy of giving a bonus from social mobilization funds at the level of 300 million VND (gold medal), 200 million VND (silver medal), 100 million VND (bronze medal). Athletes who entered the finals (for sports with qualifying rounds) were awarded 50 million VND. This is a strong source of encouragement for athletes and coaches to strive to bring glory to the country. One day before, at the Ho Chi Minh City National Sports Training Center, the departure ceremony for the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation took place with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Physical Training and Sports...

The Vietnamese disabled sports delegation will depart for France on August 23. After that, athletes in each category will be checked for their disability level and have a few days of practice before officially competing.
