The interdisciplinary working group and the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City have just issued urgent instructions regarding the foreign teacher of the American International Primary, Secondary and High School Vietnam (AISVN) sending an email to parents to inform them that he will quit his job on Monday, April 15.
The school must ensure all activities to end the school year.
The AISVN School Board has sent an "important update and note" to all parents, saying the school is aware of the incident.
"The school would like to share with parents that this is a case of a teacher sending a personal email, not the views of the collective teachers and staff of AISVN International School.
Currently, the school is still closely coordinating with functional agencies and the city's interdisciplinary working group to prioritize solutions for students to go to school," the school said.
At the same time, the school calls on parents to be patient and support the school as well as relevant agencies during this period.
The number of teachers who send emails to parents is exceptional, but the majority of teachers will still go to school and be very responsible for their students until the end of the school year according to the school's plan.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of the interdisciplinary working group confirmed that they had asked the AISVN School Board to soon discuss the above incident with teachers and parents.
"The immediate thing to do is for the principal to thoroughly understand and call on foreign teachers to share and accompany the school's current financial difficulties. Currently, some foreign teachers have opinions and send emails with bad content to parents, causing confusion.
We have asked the school board to work specifically with the principal, and only the principal is the final spokesperson with parents. Any teacher who speaks or emails to parents is only in his/her personal capacity and the school must invite him/her to work specifically," he said.
According to this person, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training and the interdisciplinary team are closely monitoring all activities of AISVN School and are not doing the school's work. The Department will also require the school to ensure all activities to end the 2023-2024 school year according to regulations.
Fully implement contracts for foreign teachers when the school restructures
Updated as of the morning of April 12, the bank account jointly owned by the Department of Education and Training - the school and supervised by representatives of the students' parents recorded a total of support receipts and other fees of more than 30.2 billion VND.
With the money contributed by parents, the school has paid January and February salaries to all teachers and staff of the school, and continues to pay March salaries.
The total advance salary for March 2024 of foreign teachers is 4.3 billion VND.
Salary payment to teachers is based on the number of actual working days per month for each person.
On the afternoon of April 12, the school also paid the entire housing fee for foreign teachers in March, more than 2.4 billion VND.
In the future, if parents' contributions are abundant, the interdisciplinary working group will ask schools to continue to prioritize foreign teachers' salaries to ensure their lives in Vietnam.
"Current contributions from parents are only to maintain the school's operations during the current difficult period, with priority given to paying teachers' salaries and housing. The school must be responsible for fully implementing its commitments in the contract for foreign teachers when restructuring," the representative of the interdisciplinary team emphasized.
"It is extremely important for teachers to come to school to teach."
The Department of Education and Training has also just sent an open letter to teachers of AISVN International School to clarify information about the plan that the department and parents have contributed to the fund to help the school maintain its operations.
The letter emphasized that continuing to pay teachers' salaries is always a matter of concern and priority, but this is not decided by the department, but depends on the account balance contributed by parents.
With the remaining balance, last week the school could only advance part of the March salary and housing for teachers. That was the best the school could do, because it still had to calculate the salary for Vietnamese teachers and staff who were working and had not been paid.
"We are sending this email just to explain clearly to teachers what has been happening, and that it is extremely important for teachers to come to school to teach, to help parents trust and continue to contribute to the account.
We received notice from the principal that the school year will end on April 26, 2024, except for grade 12 students taking the IB exam who will return to school until May 17. We only hope that with what we are doing, teachers can continue to come to school until the last day of this school year.
If the account balance increases, we will ask the school to continue to transfer it to teachers, and always update information so that teachers understand the situation clearly," the open letter said.
