Also related to this incident, Mr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, and Director of Binh Duong General Hospital, said that the hospital has reviewed and learned from experience, requiring doctors to explain in detail, clearly, and easily to understand, avoiding using specialized terms with relatives and patients to avoid misunderstandings that cause anxiety and frustration for patients and relatives. The hospital also apologized to patient LTT.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 11, patient LTT was transferred from Hong Ngoc General Hospital to the Emergency Resuscitation Department (Binh Duong General Hospital) with a diagnosis of acute appendicitis. After that, the patient underwent laparoscopic surgery. However, during the surgery, doctors discovered that the patient's pelvic and uterine areas had a lot of pus, the appendix was of normal size, and there was no congestion... The surgical team invited the obstetrician to the operating room, and at the same time contacted the patient's family by phone number listed in the medical record and made an announcement through the loudspeaker but could not contact the family.
Because prolonged anesthesia was not possible, the surgical team decided to cut off the right fallopian tube that was swollen and filled with pus to completely treat the infection of patient LTT, while preserving the remaining fallopian tube and both ovaries.
