On October 9, Mr. Lai Van Duong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Loc Commune (Nghia Dan District, Nghe An) said that regarding the incident in which 6 preschool children were found with bruises on their bodies, the authorities are verifying and clarifying the matter.
“Last night (October 9), we worked with the school, teachers, parents and some of the children involved. The district Department of Education and Training also assigned the principal to temporarily suspend the teacher (Ms. Dao Thi Soa - PV). However, because there are still some opinions to discuss, we have to wait for the competent authority to conclude and handle the specific case,” said Mr. Duong.
Relatives of C.D.M. (5-year-old A2 student) said that M. was beaten so much in the head and face that his mental state is still unstable and he is still receiving treatment at the hospital. The police have come to work with the family to clarify the matter.
"The family did not think that M. would be beaten to such an extent by his friends, so we hope that the authorities will soon investigate and clarify the matter," M.'s relatives shared.
Regarding the incident, Chief of Office of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan informed that the Department has directed the Department of Education and Training of Nghia Dan district to work directly with the school, monitor the health situation so that children can return to school soon.
Through this, the Department also requires the school to organize a serious review, clarify responsibilities and handle violations of the collective and individuals according to regulations (if any). The handling results must be sent to the Department before October 15.
“From this unfortunate incident, the Department of Education and Training requires local education and training departments and schools to regularly monitor, supervise and inspect activities related to child care and education at preschools to ensure children's safety,” said Mr. Hoan.
As VietNamNet reported, the 5-year-old class A2 at Nghia Loc Kindergarten has 43 children, led by 2 homeroom teachers, including Ms. Tran Quynh Mai and Ms. Le Thi Ly. On the afternoon of October 7, Nghia Loc Kindergarten assigned Ms. Mai to update school information on the database in the medical room and Ms. Ly went to another room to prepare lesson content and materials to participate in professional seminars for schools and clusters of schools according to the plan of the Nghia Dan Department of Education and Training.
During that time, the school arranged for Ms. Dao Thi Soa (born in 1986, teacher of 3-year-old class C1) to manage the class.
During the time she was supervising the class, from 2:30 p.m., 6 students in the class suffered bruises (possibly from beatings) of varying degrees on their bodies. At the end of the class, when the children were returned, the homeroom teacher discovered this. Immediately after, the school, teachers, and parents took the children to the doctor, of which 2 children had to be hospitalized for monitoring and treatment.
After the incident, the People's Committee of Nghia Dan district directed specialized departments to coordinate with the school and local authorities to quickly investigate and clarify.
