Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam said that VTV's organization of this program to respond to National Digital Transformation Day and officially announce the national digital television platform VTVGo is a very meaningful activity, not only sharing the results achieved in the digital transformation of the Station, but also contributing to spreading the spirit of digital transformation to press agencies and sharing experiences so that agencies can successfully transform digitally together.
VTV is currently one of the leading units in digital transformation and has achieved remarkable achievements. With the VTVGo television platform being promoted to become a national digital television platform and becoming an information channel used by many people not only in Vietnam but also around the world, VTV has affirmed the position of the National Television Station in the digital transformation process.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized that VTV has demonstrated its role in leading and orienting public opinion, maintaining information sovereignty in cyberspace, effectively innovating reader experiences, creating new sources of revenue and promoting the development of the digital content industry.
“The national digital television platform VTVGo must maintain its national stature in terms of scale, content quality and technological platform level. Specifically, VTVGo must become a content distribution portal, providing a full, diverse and rich range of VTV television channels, national essential television channels, and essential television channels of 63 local radio and television stations. VTVGo must have a modern transmission and distribution technology infrastructure, with a high level of information security, where advanced technologies in big data and artificial intelligence are applied to bring highly personalized experiences and diverse interactions to domestic and foreign audiences, helping to optimize management and content development, and business based on digital data,” said Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam.
According to the Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, VTVGo must be pre-installed on all smart TVs and smartphones distributed in the Vietnamese market. VTV aims to reach 30 million users by 2030. Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam said that in the past, functional units of the Ministry of Information and Communications have supported VTV to promote the development of the national digital television platform VTVGo. Although there are still difficulties, the Deputy Minister believes that the national digital television platform VTVGo will grow stronger and stronger, compete with cross-border OTT platforms and contribute to maintaining national sovereignty in cyberspace.
VTV Digital representative said that after TV manufacturers integrated VTVGo buttons on the remote control, the number of TV viewers using VTVGo application increased sharply. As of the third quarter of 2024, there were 43 million downloads of VTVGo application.
VTV will build a strong digital infrastructure platform
Speaking at the Workshop on Infrastructure Construction and Technology Application in Digital Transformation at VTV, Mr. Nguyen The Tung, Director of VTV's Television Technology Center, affirmed that for digital transformation, the most important thing is awareness and people are the most important factor. VTV aims for digital infrastructure to ensure faster data processing and lower costs.
Mr. Tung said that VTV will build a hybrid cloud model to use VTV's private cloud and outsource the service to an enterprise. This will help content creators to use stored data quickly, conveniently and increase the productivity of content creators.
Continuing to share about this issue, Mr. Pham Anh Chien, Deputy Director of VTV Digital, said that VTV is a content producer and distributor on traditional TV but must switch to distributing content on multiple platforms. VTV has introduced the Total VTV model to distribute content on multiple platforms.
Mr. Chien believes that the ecosystem must be built on a centralized, unique and unified cloud computing technology infrastructure to be able to do business. VTV has introduced a new business concept which is content service business that brings the highest economic efficiency. Therefore, VTV's organization must also change to suit the digital model.
From an expert’s perspective, Mr. Hoang Nguyen Van, Chairman of Savis, believes that the problem of television technology is not a difficult problem, but the television business model in digital space is a difficult problem. Therefore, it is necessary to create a new business model for mutual development.
