VPBank introduces Apple Pay

VPBank has partnered with Apple Pay, allowing users to pay directly for purchases or services using iPhones, Apple Watches, and Macs, replacing their physical bank cards.

A representative from VPBank stated that this method aligns with the growing trend of cashless payments in society. Furthermore, it helps customers avoid handing over their payment cards to others, touching physical payment buttons, or exchanging cash, and allows them to use their iPhones to protect all transactions.

To use it, customers double-tap and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near the payment gateway. To activate Apple Pay, users need an iPhone 6 or later running iOS 12.5.2 or later. The service also supports Watch Series 4 or later, but requires at least watchOS 9 and must be paired with an iPhone 8 or later.

Transactions via Apple Pay are highly secure, authenticated using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device's passcode, along with a one-time dynamic security code.

"The application of digitalization at VPBank is increasingly emphasized through each product and service to provide customers with better experiences. With the introduction of Apple Pay, we hope to bring a new, modern, and secure payment method to users," a VPBank representative shared.

Customers can use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to make in-app purchases or web transactions through Safari without creating an account or entering shipping and payment information multiple times. This method can also be used to make payments within apps on Apple Watch.

To set up Apple Pay on an iPhone, users open the Wallet app, tap the plus sign (+), and follow the instructions to add a VPBank credit or debit card. Customers can add VPBank credit or debit cards to Apple Pay from the VPBank NEO app. Alternatively, customers can also apply for a debit card online through the VPBank NEO app; the card will be issued immediately and added to Apple Pay.

After adding the card to their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac, customers can start using Apple Pay on those devices immediately. Customers will continue to receive all the reward points and benefits offered by their VPBank card. Holders of VPBank-issued Mastercard and Visa international credit and debit cards will be able to add the card to the Wallet app.

Apple Pay is a mobile payment service that launched in the US in October 2014. Instead of swiping a credit card, users simply place their iPhone and Apple Watch near a payment terminal at supermarkets, stores, restaurants, etc. The terminals communicate via NFC and are authenticated before each transaction using fingerprint recognition (with TouchID support on iPhones) or facial recognition (FaceID). To date, Apple's payment service is available in over 70 countries and regions and partners with more than 10,000 banking partners worldwide .
