“Football is a fun sport to play with friends. I often play football with ONE fighters like Superlek or Superbon, along with some of my other friends,” Rodtang confided.
In June this year, Rodtang said he had to give up playing football to switch to Muay Thai to earn money to support his family. “I don’t like fighting, I like football more. However, I received very little money playing football, compared to Muay Thai. So I decided to switch to Muay Thai to earn money to support my family. At that time, I earned 300 baht (8 USD) per match,” Rodtang explained.
Rodtang Jitmuangnon is the top Muay Thai fighter of the moment, having successfully defended his ONE Championship title five times. Rodtang has also successfully defended his prestigious Omnoi Stadium title twice. Rodtang has won 325 times in his career in both Muay Thai and kickboxing.
Rodtang will face British opponent Jacob Smith in the ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug event on November 9. The two previously faced off in 2022 at the ONE 157 event in Kallang, Singapore. Rodtang won by decision.
