Twin Angels

The couple Nguyen Thi Rong (born in 1988) and Dang Van May (born in 1989, Nga Nam district, Soc Trang province) have 1 son and 2 twin daughters. Their children all have albinism.

Despite their different appearances, the children are very smart and adorable. In particular, Dang Thien Kim and Dang My Kim (born in 2019, often called Tam Chi and Tam Em) are very pretty.

Ms. Rong and her husband have 3 children with albinism.

When the two girls were 2 years old, Ms. Rong and her husband sent their eldest son to his grandparents and took their two daughters to Binh Duong to work as factory workers.

To make it easier for them to go to work, they sent their two children to daycare. A month later, the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, and Ms. Rong and her husband lost their jobs and had to stay home to take care of their children.

Out of work for months, they could only rely on relatives in the countryside to provide food and provisions.

After months of being stuck in a rented room with no work, the couple created a TikTok channel to relieve stress. They often post clips of their two daughters practicing speaking and playing.

Thanks to their strange white hair and skin, Tam Chi and Tam Em's clips suddenly became a trend, attracting millions of views. More and more people knew about the children and the nickname "Angel Twins" was born.

“After watching the clip on my TikTok channel, many content creators came to interview me. One of them, the owner of a famous YouTube channel, came to my room to film. When the channel posted the video, more people got to know the two children,” Ms. Rong said.

The lovely appearance of Tam Chi and Tam Em makes many people love them.

Later, the manager of that channel created a YouTube channel for Ms. Rong's family called Twin Angels. Thanks to that, they had a new job.

At first, the novelty, cuteness and liveliness of the two children attracted many views. After about a month, the number of views showed signs of slowing down, so the income gradually decreased.

Changed life thanks to 2 daughters

Ms. Rong admitted that she and her husband are rustic, not good at speaking, and do not know how to create content on YouTube. The videos only revolve around the daily life of the twins, so viewers find them boring.

Currently, Ms. Rong and her husband do not post videos often. The number of views per video ranges from 11,000 to 30,000. Their income is about 10 - 12 million VND/month.

However, the online community spread information that the channel's monthly income reached billions of dong; Ms. Rong and her husband changed their lives and built a new house in Soc Trang.

Ms. Rong took her children back to her hometown to live.

Many people commented negatively, mocking the couple for using their children to make money. Although they knew they couldn’t avoid negative comments, this still made them feel sad.

After that, they encouraged each other to "live with" the rumors and focus on working to earn money to raise their children.

Two years ago, Ms. Rong and her husband decided to return to their hometown. At that time, Mr. May's mother's health was deteriorating and she could no longer take care of their eldest son.

“If I bring all three children to Binh Duong to live, the worker’s salary is not enough to cover expenses. The YouTube income is only enough to pay for milk and school fees for Tam and Tam,” Ms. Rong confided.

His hometown is in a remote, poor commune of Soc Trang province. Therefore, it is difficult for him and his wife to find stable jobs. The whole family mainly depends on a few hectares (1 hectare = 1,000m2) of rice fields and income from the YouTube channel.

After the harvest season, Mr. May switched to working for hire. When he had no work, he went fishing, picking wild vegetables, etc. Ms. Rong took care of the housework, taking the children to and from school, and raising poultry.

The first year back home, Ms. Rong's family lived in a rented house. After that, they moved to live near her paternal grandparents' house and built a small house.

The whole family of Ms. Rong feels happy when they are together.

Ms. Rong shared: “We had to borrow money to build the house, not thanks to the money we earned from YouTube.

Many people have instructed me to sell on TikTok. But I am not familiar with it, afraid of selling bad products, affecting my children's reputation.

People say that living in the countryside is easy, you can eat vegetables and porridge, and it saves money. But I have a small child, so everything is expensive.

Rong and her husband did not want their children to live a difficult life like their parents. They once dreamed of taking their children “out of the countryside”.

But now, they just want their children to be healthy, study well, and be obedient. Being poor is okay, as long as the family is together, that's enough.
