The meeting aims to commend and honor advanced models and prestigious individuals who have made great contributions to socio-economic development, preserving and promoting national cultural identity, maintaining security and national defense in ethnic minority areas of the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Dang Van Chinh, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, said that this is an important political event, an opportunity for us to look back at the achievements and positive contributions of ethnic minorities in the province.
According to Mr. Dang Van Chinh, in recent years, emulation movements in ethnic minority areas in Vinh Long province have always been actively promoted by all levels and sectors, associated with the political tasks of each unit and locality. Many emulation movements have always been innovative in both form and content and have received active participation and response from cadres and ethnic minorities. From there, it has created great spiritual motivation, contributing significantly to hunger eradication, poverty reduction, strengthening the building of great national unity, maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area.
Up to now, the average income of ethnic minorities is 75.3 million VND/person/year; the poverty rate among ethnic minorities is 3.4%; 100% of communes have car roads to the commune center; 100% of schools, classrooms and commune health stations are solidly built; the rate of households using national grid electricity and clean water for daily life is 99%; the rate of ethnic minorities participating in health insurance is 98%...
From the reality of implementing grassroots activities and emulation movements, many typical prestigious people have emerged, contributing to the fields of economic development, education, teaching, people's health care... especially they are always exemplary, taking the lead in building cultural life, maintaining security, order and consolidating the great national unity bloc.
"Party committees and authorities at all levels continue to pay attention and create the best conditions for prestigious people among ethnic minorities to promote their role in the ethnic community," Mr. Dang Van Chinh noted.
Vice Chairman of the province Dang Van Chinh also hopes that prestigious people need to continue to promote their exemplary role, strengthen propaganda and mobilization, be a shining example in labor production, protect security and order, and preserve national cultural identity. Strengthen coordination between levels, sectors, and mass organizations in mobilizing people, implementing patriotic emulation movements, ensuring national defense and security, building a healthy cultural life, etc.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Long province awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 individuals with outstanding achievements, promoting the role of Prestigious People in the ethnic minority region of Vinh Long province in 2024 and the Head of the Provincial Ethnic Committee awarded certificates of merit to 30 outstanding individuals in various fields.
