The planning for protection and exploitation of aquatic resources for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, has just been approved by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang in Decision No. 389/QD-TTg under the authorization of the Prime Minister.
One of the notable contents of the Plan is the identification of 149 areas in the sea (59 aquatic resource protection areas, 63 areas with a temporary ban on fishing, 27 artificial habitats for aquatic species) and 119 inland areas (66 aquatic resource protection areas, 53 areas with a temporary ban on fishing) to be zoned to protect aquatic resources, protect concentrated spawning areas, and areas where young aquatic species live.
Accordingly, the criteria for zoning areas where fishing is prohibited for a period of time are areas where aquatic resources are concentrated for spawning, areas where young aquatic resources are concentrated for living; areas where aquatic resources are protected; and prohibited fishing occupations and gear that cause harm or destruction to aquatic resources, the habitat of aquatic species and aquatic ecosystems.
Specifically, in the list of 63 areas banned from fishing for a limited period in the sea area of the country in the period of 2021 - 2030, Nghe An province's sea area has 2 areas: Dien Chau Bay with an area of 9,161 hectares will be banned from fishing from April 1 to June 30 every year and the coastal area of Nghi Loc - Cua Lo, with an area of 6,594 hectares will be banned from fishing from April 1 to May 31 every year.
In the inland area, in the list of 53 areas banned from fishing for the period 2021 - 2030 nationwide, Nghe An has 2 areas on Lam River. These are Cua Hoi - Khai Son (Anh Son) area with a total area of 4,992 hectares, the fishing ban period is from March 1 to May 15 every year and the Hieu River - Lam River junction area with a total area of 26 hectares, the fishing ban period is from June 1 to September 15 every year.
In addition, in Nghe An sea, the coastal area northeast of Mui Ga in Nghi Loc district with an area of 965 hectares is also included in the investment portfolio of artificial habitats for aquatic species in the sea for the period 2021 - 2030.
At the same time, on Lam River, the section through Yen Na commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An (at the foot of Ban Ve Hydropower Dam) to Cua Rao bridge has an area of 112 hectares and Cua Hoi area has an area of 144 hectares in the list of inland aquatic resources protection for the period 2021 - 2030 in the Planning.
