On December 8 and 9, on some personal Facebook pages and social networking sites, information was posted about the case of VinaPhone withdrawing the phone number 0xx7.999.999. Regarding this, VinaPhone officially informed as follows: The withdrawal of prepaid mobile subscriber numbers that have expired is regulated by the Ministry of Information and Communications and has been implemented and publicly announced by VinaPhone on the website under general transaction conditions for many years now in order to optimize the efficiency of exploiting the telecommunications number warehouse and limit the situation of junk SIMs. According to VinaPhone's regulations, after the prepaid subscriber's account expires, the subscriber will be locked in one direction; 10 days later, it will be locked in two directions. Before locking in one direction or two directions, Vinaphone's system sends many messages to notify the subscriber. The time the network operator keeps the subscriber's number on the system after the subscriber has been locked in two directions is 30 days. After the above period, the subscriber number will be retained by VinaPhone for another 15 days to consider reissuing if the customer continues to need to use it. After this period, the subscriber number will be reused according to regulations. In the case of phone number 0xx7.999.999, this subscriber number was locked in one direction on August 19; locked in two directions on August 29, then the number was retained and waited for recovery until October 12 (45 days from the time of locking in two directions). To ensure the rights of customers, VinaPhone has sent many notification messages recommending that subscribers continue to use the service to avoid being locked in one direction or two directions. Specifically, on August 14, 16 and 18, Vinaphone sent a message with the content: "Thank you for using VinaPhone's services. Please top up your card or make calls/send messages/access data to extend your usage period before your subscription is locked in one direction on August 19, 2024. Contact details: 18001091". On August 24, 26 and 28, Vinaphone's system also sent a message with the content: "Thank you for using VinaPhone's services. Please top up your card to ensure no contact interruptions before your subscription is locked in two directions on August 29, 2024. Contact details: 18001091". After sending the messages and notifications, VinaPhone did not receive any feedback from customers and the above subscriber number did not use telecommunications services, so the system locked one way and locked two ways when the subscriber number expired according to regulations. After the deadline for customers to restore according to their needs, on November 19, 2024, VinaPhone reused and put the number into a new issuance mode. The reuse of the subscriber number was carried out by VinaPhone according to regulations, after ensuring the rights and time for customers who needed to restore the service.
