Vietjet increases flights, reduces airfare prices during holidays

Due to the high demand for travel, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has asked airlines to consider increasing capacity on flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to localities with large tourism sources such as Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Cam Ranh, etc. during the holiday.

In addition to the request to increase flights, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also plans to adjust the frequency of take-offs and landings at airports. In particular, at Noi Bai, the number of flights arriving at the airport can increase from 37 flights per hour to 42. Tan Son Nhat Airport can also receive 46 flights per hour, instead of 44 flights as before.

These adjustments by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam create room for airlines, including Vietjet, to add more flights, reducing the heat of ticket prices during peak periods.

According to a VnExpress survey at noon on April 11, the lowest ticket price for the Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route of Vietjet during the holiday was 1.5 million VND (April 29); the lowest price for Hanoi - Phu Quoc was 2.2 million VND (April 29); the lowest price for Hanoi - Hue was 1.4 million VND (April 29).

Even during the two days before and after the holiday (from April 27 to May 2), the airline's ticket prices tend to "cool down". Passengers can buy tickets from Ho Chi Minh City to tourist destinations such as Da Lat, Tuy Hoa, Da Nang for 490,000 VND (excluding taxes and fees); Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route costs from 790,000 VND; routes connecting Southeast Asian countries cost from 570,000 VND.

Vietjet often offers many flight ticket promotions on special days.

Explaining the "cooling down" of ticket prices, a Vietjet representative said the airline has increased 86,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 425 flights on tourist routes . "The heat of holiday airfares can be cooled down when passengers have more options in terms of prices, suitable for each person's conditions," said the airline representative.

If you plan to buy early, passengers who buy during the airline's golden hours (12-14h) will have the opportunity to own cheap tickets. According to a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, up to now, on domestic flights, passengers can still basically book tickets and there are many ticket prices to choose from to suit each passenger's conditions and travel needs.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, representative of Viet Nhan Travel Company - a first-class airline ticket agent, assessed that the ticket price for this year's holiday has increased slightly compared to the same period last year. However, if you plan your trip early, you can still buy tickets at reasonable prices. Currently, customers can still find tickets from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City for 1.4 million VND for the entire holiday period, which is equivalent to the price on normal days, at a good time to fly.

Vietjet's Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route starts at around 790,000 VND for Eco class. The airline also offers Deluxe and Sky Boss fares with a variety of prices and flight times for customers to choose from.

For international flights, Vietjet has opened many new routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Xi'an (China), Hanoi - Melbourne/Sydney (Australia), and increased flights to Phu Quoc tourist destination from Seoul (Korea) and Taipei (Taiwan - China). The flight schedule has also been extended until 2025, meeting the demand for long-distance flight tickets at attractive prices starting from only 0 VND.

Vietjet representative added that the aviation industry is facing many difficulties due to the scarcity of aircraft and rising fuel prices. However, the company is still researching many options to increase supply to meet people's needs at reasonable prices.

Specifically, the airline is applying the plan of "increasing operating time and reducing turnaround time". For example, Vietjet's A320 and A321 aircraft, which are currently operating an average of 12-13 hours per day, will be calculated and adjusted to increase capacity. The turnaround time at the airport for A321 aircraft will also be studied to be reduced from 45 minutes to about 30-35 minutes. The plan of bringing wide-body A330s into domestic operation is also being calculated, despite the high cost.

Previously, during each peak season, the company also actively negotiated to lease additional aircraft to serve the soaring travel demand. Typically, during the recent Tet holiday, Vietjet wet-leased 4 aircraft, increasing nearly 750 flights, adding 154,800 to serve passengers on domestic and international routes.

It can be seen that, although the general aviation situation is facing many obstacles, Vietjet is still implementing many measures to help cool down ticket prices, meeting the travel needs of passengers. On the occasion of the April 30 holiday this year, the airline's addition and increase of flight routes received positive feedback from many tourists, helping them have more flexible travel options in terms of time and ticket prices.
