Vietjet signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus to order 20 wide-body A330neo aircraft - one of the largest orders at Singapore Airshow 2024 to date.
The information was announced by Airbus today (February 22). The Airbus A330-900 (neo) aircraft will replace Vietjet's leased A330-300 fleet and support the airline's network expansion. This aircraft will be used on Vietjet's growing long-haul and high-efficiency routes.

To date, this is Vietjet’s largest wide-body aircraft order and also one of the largest orders at this year’s Singapore Airshow. The Singapore Airshow is held every two years and is where manufacturers launch, display, and demonstrate aviation and defense equipment and vehicles. At the same time, governments and businesses often sign large-value agreements and orders at this event.
According to Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong, the A330neo is a strategic addition to the airline's fleet modernization. At the same time, it also helps improve operational capacity to support the airline's global network expansion plan.
"The new-generation fuel-efficient design is in line with our sustainable development strategy and ESG goals, aiming to achieve net zero emissions by 2050," said Mr. Phuong, adding that with this aircraft, we hope customers can also be provided with long-range flights, with good service and more competitive fares.
Airbus Commercial Aircraft Sales Director Christian Scherer said he was delighted to partner with Vietjet in the next phase of the airline's development. "The A330neo will help the airline achieve the lowest possible operating cost per seat and continue to offer customers the best possible value," Scherer said.

The A330neo is powered by the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. This aircraft has a maximum range of approximately 13,300 km. As of the end of January 2024, Airbus has received more than 1,770 orders for the A330neo from more than 130 customers around the world.
Vietjet also received another aircraft a few days ago. This is an Airbus A321neo ACF. To date, the entire fleet of this low-cost airline is Airbus, including A320, A321 and A330. Of which, the wide-body fleet of the airline includes 7 A330s.
