Within the framework of the 16th ASEAN Ministers on Information (AMRI 16) held in Da Nang City, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung had a meeting with the head of the Philippine Information Agency delegation.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged management experiences in the fields of information and communication , radio and television, especially the information provision and dissemination system from the central to local levels.
The two sides shared experiences in organizing public opinion polls and how to collect people's opinions on government policies.
The representative of the Philippine Information Agency said that the country is facing challenges in preventing fake news, online gambling, and illegal online lending. In the Philippines, ward and commune officials are trained in skills to provide information to the people. The information disseminated is mainly government policies.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also shared about Vietnam's new technology application model to transmit information from the central level to each commune and ward level. This model was introduced at the AMRI 16 Conference exhibition area.
At the meeting, the two sides decided to continue exchanging and organizing delegations to learn from experiences in digital transformation, preventing fake news, etc.
Sharing the results achieved at the AMRI 16 Conference, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam said that the ministers affirmed and positioned the role of the information industry in the new period from "information" to "knowledge". Information will become an active means for lifelong learning and raising awareness and digital literacy for ASEAN citizens. This is an inevitable trend ofdigital transformation , the influence of social networks and new media and the development of artificial intelligence (AI).
At the same time, encourage more dialogue and engagement between the media, communities and people to promote more comprehensive information, call for regional cooperation to build a healthy cyberspace environment through enhancing digital capacity, promote the maximization of reliable information sources to build trust, orient public opinion, and enhance digital skills for ASEAN citizens, especially the younger generation and the elderly.
ASEAN Ministers in charge of information also adopted new documents, noting the results and progress achieved in cooperation frameworks in the information sector.
