Within the framework of the 16th ASEAN Ministers of Information Meeting (AMRI 16) held in Da Nang City, on the morning of September 23, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung received a delegation from the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information led by Mr. Ichwan Makmur Nasution, Director of the Center for International Relations.

Receiving Minister Nguyen Manh Hung were Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam, Department of International Cooperation; Department of Press; Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information; Department of External Information.

Mr. Ichwan Makmur Nasution presented a gift to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung at the meeting.

Both countries prioritize strengthening content management on radio, television, and social networks, stepping up the handling of fake news, toxic news, and building a healthy and safe cyberspace.

Delegation of the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information took a souvenir photo with the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications.

In addition, the two sides discussed and agreed that in the near future Vietnam and Indonesia will sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of information technology and communications, creating a basis for implementing bilateral cooperation activities.

At the same time, Vietnam can share its experience in building and developing digital platforms for press agencies, media platforms, and foreign information with Indonesia.

The 16th ASEAN Information Ministers Meeting is of great significance, demonstrating Vietnam's proactive and responsible role in multilateral diplomacy and affirming the significance of ASEAN cooperation.

According to Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam, Vietnam has chosen the theme for this conference: “Media: From Information to Knowledge for a Resilient and Adaptive ASEAN”. The theme highlights the role and mission of the media sector in the new period, making information the driving force for development, not only providing information, but also promoting the transformation from information to knowledge, to build a resilient ASEAN, strengthen internal capacity, resilience and adaptability to affirm the role and position of ASEAN, not only inward-looking, but also ready to respond to changes in the current world situation.
