Vietnam supports the Syrian people in the face of great losses caused by the earthquake in February 2023

Minister Bui Thanh Son announced that the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee will continue to transfer the third round of support worth 600,000 USD to the Syrian people.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son had a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Syrian Arab Republic's expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad.

On the afternoon of December 13, at the Ministry's headquarters, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son had a phone call with Foreign Minister and Syrian Arab Republic expatriate Faisal Al-Mikdad.

Also attending was President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Bui Thi Hoa.

Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to further deepen the traditional friendship and cooperation with Syria; the Vietnamese Government and people always remember and appreciate the valuable assistance that the Syrian people gave Vietnam in the past struggle for national reunification and in the current national construction.

To express the solidarity of the Vietnamese people with the Syrian people in the face of the great losses caused by the February 2023 earthquake in northern Syria, Minister Bui Thanh Son announced that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society will continue to transfer the third round of support worth 600,000 USD to the Syrian people, bringing the total support from the Vietnamese Government and people to date to 900,000 USD.

Minister Faisal Al-Mikdad thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their timely and humane support; emphasized that Syrian leaders at all levels and people highly value relations with Vietnam, and expressed his impression of the socio-economic development achievements that Vietnam has made in recent times.

The Minister affirmed that Syria always supports and wishes to learn from Vietnam's experience in national development and international integration.

In a friendly and cordial atmosphere, the two Ministers discussed and agreed on orientations to promote cooperation between the two countries in the coming time in the fields of politics, diplomacy, and economics; coordinate and support each other at multilateral organizations such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, etc.

On this occasion, Minister Bui Thanh Son invited Minister Faisal Al-Mikdad to visit Vietnam at a suitable time. Minister Faisal Al-Mikdad happily accepted the invitation, believing that the visit would create a new step forward in the relationship between the two countries.
