Vietnam will build preferential mechanisms to welcome Korean innovative enterprises

DNVN - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh affirmed that Vietnam will research and develop incentive mechanisms to attract investment resources from Korea. At the same time, it will welcome Korean startups and innovation enterprises to develop in the Vietnamese market in the near future.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the orientation of the Vietnam-Korea startup cooperation plan at the 2024 International Techfest in Korea on the afternoon of September 4, Mr. Hoang Minh - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology said that Techfest is an initiative organized annually by the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology since 2015. This is the largest series of activities gathering the domestic and foreign startup innovation community in Vietnam.

Since 2019, Vietnam has organized international Techfests in the US, Korea, Singapore, Australia, etc. and has left many impressions and positive results. This is an opportunity to promote the image of Vietnam's open and dynamic creative startup ecosystem; to connect typical Vietnamese businesses and startup support organizations with resources around the world and prepare for the national Techfest taking place at the end of the year.

Deputy Minister Hoang Minh presented a souvenir of a Vietnamese bronze drum to a representative of the Daejeon City Center for Economic Reform and Innovation (DCCEI).

“This year, based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the Center for Economic Reform and Innovation (DCCEI) and the Vietnam National Center for Startup Support (NSSC); the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups of Korea as well as cooperation agreements and action programs to implement the bilateral relationship of “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” between the two States, we decided to bring the international Techfest to Daejeon, Korea - one of the most vibrant startup ecosystems in Asia”, said Mr. Hoang Minh.

According to Deputy Minister Hoang Minh, Vietnam currently has about 4,000 innovative startups, of which 3 are valued at over 1 billion USD and 11 are valued at over 100 million USD. Vietnam ranks 46th out of 132 countries and economies in the Global Innovation Index (GII), 4th in Southeast Asia; the innovation ecosystem ranks 56th in the world, 12th in the Asia-Pacific region. These are proofs of a young, dynamic Vietnam with high potential in innovation and creative startups.

HanaGold Company representative wishes to expand the market and widely deploy the 4.0 Gold Shop business model in Korea.

Over the past three decades, Vietnam and Korea have built a strategic partnership, achieving many important achievements in many fields, especially in cooperation on science, technology, innovation and creative startups. Currently, relevant ministries and sectors of Korea and Vietnam have made many joint efforts to implement comprehensive strategic cooperation programs to support creative startups.

Notably, the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Korean Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups have established a promising partnership, signing a memorandum of understanding on July 2, 2024. This event marks an official commitment in the joint effort to develop and strengthen the vibrant innovative startup ecosystems of both countries.

Entering a new phase, Vietnam hopes to further promote human resource exchange programs, management models, support and development of innovative startups between Vietnam and Korea.

“Korea is a potential technology and capital market. Vietnam will research and develop incentive mechanisms to attract investment resources from Korea and welcome Korean enterprises to develop in the Vietnamese market. We are also determined to build an open and integrated ecosystem, encouraging foreign incubators and startups, especially from Korea, to test new technologies, replicate models, develop markets, and call for investment capital,” Mr. Hoang Minh emphasized.

Within the framework of the 2024 International Techfest, representing the Ministry of Science and Technology, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh presented a souvenir of a Vietnamese bronze drum to a representative of the Daejeon City Center for Economic Reform and Innovation (DCCEI).

The organizers also selected startups to participate in the Techfest Vietnam 2024 Creative Startup Center Booth (scheduled to be held in Hai Phong on November 24, 2024). At the same time, Vietnamese and Korean businesses will share and connect for investment cooperation.

Mr. Eric Vuong - Chairman of Fundgo Fund, Chairman of HVA Investment Company said that HVA is focusing on building an effective investment portfolio in 3 areas: Blockchain, AI and Fintech.

Sharing his project with major Korean investment funds, representing HanaGold Company with a strategy to expand the market and widely deploy the 4.0 Gold Shop business model, combining online and offline; promoting the 24/7 online gold accumulation solution from only 100k and the solution to support gold traceability identification. HanaGold wishes to find strategic partners to cooperate in business deployment in Korea.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long - CEO of TreeOTek Joint Stock Company participated in the presentation about the air purifier product integrated with green plants and proposed to raise 1 million USD for the international business development campaign.

Mr. Eric Vuong - Chairman of Fundgo Fund, Chairman of High Value Asset Investment Company (HVA) said that HVA is focusing on building an effective investment portfolio in 3 areas: Blockchain, AI and Fintech with the goal of increasing investment capital to 50 million USD in the next 2 years and maintaining its pioneering position.
