The workshop aims to help Vietnamese labor management agencies in Korea update the actual situation of labor, business, living and arising issues related to Vietnamese workers.
On December 5, at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea, the Embassy's Community Affairs Committee coordinated with the EPS Labor Management Office and the Vietnamese Labor Management Board in Korea to organize a workshop and meet with Vietnamese consultants at foreign labor support and welfare centers and representatives of Vietnamese community groups in Korea.
According to a VNA reporter in Seoul, to update the policies and laws of Korea and Vietnam related to the EPS Program, the workshop attracted more than 30 delegates and guests, including Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho, representatives of relevant departments of the Embassy, consultants from the Centers for Support and Welfare of Foreign Workers, representatives of Vietnamese community groups and representatives of Vietnamese police in Korea.
Speaking at the workshop, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho welcomed the presence of consultants and representatives of Vietnamese community groups in Korea.
The Ambassador shared the hardships and difficulties of the consultants, the enthusiasm and dedication of each consultant in working in the community, especially the role of the consultant as a bridge, from the workers to the management agencies and the Embassy and from the Embassy and the management agencies to the workers.
Ambassador Vu Ho highlighted the significance of exporting labor abroad in creating jobs and developing the country's economy.
The Ambassador emphasized: “It is necessary to put the interests of workers first to ensure that the work routes of the Embassy, labor management agencies, teams of consultants and representatives of community groups are meaningful, effective and successful.”
Mr. Chu Quang Duong, Head of EPS Labor Management Office in Korea, said that the purpose of the workshop is for Vietnamese labor management agencies in Korea to update the actual situation from consultants of foreign labor support and welfare centers and from community groups on the situation of labor, business, living and issues arising related to Vietnamese workers; share information and experience in consulting, supporting the resolution of difficulties and problems that EPS workers need support; discuss solutions to strengthen coordination between EPS Office with consultants and community groups in information and propaganda work on the law, reducing illegal residence.
Mr. Le Thanh Ha, First Secretary, Head of the Vietnamese Labor Management Board in Korea, highlighted specific tasks in the consulting work of the Foreign Labor Support and Welfare Center, including consultants establishing, collecting detailed and comprehensive databases of all information of the consulted subjects to promptly respond to consulting activities.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung, Counselor in charge of Community Affairs of the Embassy, shared necessary instructions in the coordination between consultants, representatives of Vietnamese community groups and the Embassy's Community Affairs Board.
At the workshop, many presentations were made by consultants at facilities with a large concentration of Vietnamese workers in Korea. The presentations showed the current situation of workers, along with practical issues related to the implementation of contract commitments, shortcomings in the implementation of health insurance, welfare, crime prevention and social evils in the community.
The consultants have expressed some of their feelings and concerns and the obstacles that need to be resolved to reflect to the Embassy leaders, the Embassy Community Affairs Board, the EPS Labor Management Office and the Vietnamese Labor Management Board in Korea.
The workshop with labor consultants and representatives of Vietnamese community groups in Korea suggested, agreed and achieved substantial results in terms of content, methods and ways to promote labor export, while better organizing the work of ensuring the interests of workers in Korea in the coming time./.
