Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam is ready to cooperate, share, contribute, and join the United Nations in implementing global, comprehensive, and all-people solutions to current challenges.

On the afternoon of November 10, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Ms. Pauline Tamesis, Resident Coordinator and Heads of United Nations organizations in Vietnam on the occasion of the United Nations Day, October 24.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the strong development in the Vietnam-United Nations cooperation relationship, and especially thanked the United Nations for its valuable support and companionship throughout Vietnam's development journey, especially during the period of embargo, international integration, implementation of international commitments, response to climate change, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, and strongly supports multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is ready to cooperate, share, contribute, and join the United Nations in implementing global, comprehensive, and people-centered solutions to current challenges, supporting peace, promoting sustainable development, and ensuring human rights.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also discussed a number of specific focuses in cooperation between Vietnam and the United Nations development system in the coming period, especially in implementing Vietnam's three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure and human resources, as well as implementing documents of the Future Summit, accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), responding to climate change and implementing the Political Declaration on the establishment of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), digital transformation, and transformation of the food system...

The Prime Minister informed about some of Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, commitments on climate change, ensuring food and nutrition security not only for the Vietnamese people but also for the world, including exporting 8 million tons of rice in 2024.

Vietnam is focusing on implementing three main pillars including building socialist democracy, a socialist rule-of-law state and a socialist-oriented market economy, focusing on six key tasks, namely an independent and autonomous foreign policy; economic development; development of Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity; building an all-people national defense, a people's security posture, implementing the four "no" defense policy; ensuring social security; building a clean and strong Party.

The Prime Minister requested that United Nations organizations in Vietnam continue to cooperate closely with ministries, sectors and localities, provide policy advice, mobilize international resources, especially in science, technology, innovation, improve national governance capacity, and train human resources, meeting the needs and being consistent with Vietnam's development orientations and priorities in the coming period, especially in implementing the two 100-year goals of becoming a modern industrialized country with high average income by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.

At the meeting, the Resident Coordinator and Heads of United Nations organizations in Vietnam highly appreciated Vietnam's role, strong commitment and positive contributions to United Nations mechanisms.

The United Nations particularly welcomes Vietnam's efforts in promoting the implementation of common priorities of the United Nations and the international community in maintaining peace and promoting sustainable development.

The Heads of the United Nations organizations highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts and development achievements in recent times, especially in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, improving the quality of education, training human resources, ensuring gender equality...

Leaders of UN agencies affirmed their commitment to continue strong cooperation with Vietnam, especially to implement documents of the Future Summit, promote digital transformation, apply artificial intelligence, successfully implement JETP, respond to climate change, protect the environment, enhance resilience and response to natural disasters, improve people's health.../.
