Following the success of the trade promotion and market development activities in 2024, the Vietnam Trade Office in India organized booths and supported Vietnamese enterprises to participate and introduce Vietnamese agricultural products and processed foods at the "World Food India" Exhibition (WFI 2024) in 2024.
On September 19, 2024, the WFI 2024 Expo opened at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center, New Delhi, with the participation of more than 90 countries, 26 states and union territories of India and leaders of 18 Indian ministries and departments. This is the third time the WFI Expo has been organized, chaired by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries of India in coordination with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), taking place over 4 days (from September 19 to 22, 2024).
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a speech at the opening session of WFI 2024, affirming that India has a diverse culinary culture and the Indian Government is implementing extensive reforms to transform the food processing industry to create a modern and developed ecosystem, becoming part of the global value chain; India will issue standard regulations on innovation, sustainability and safety in the global food sector. The Minister of Food Processing Industry of India attended and delivered the opening speech, saying that the food processing industry plays an important role and position in India achieving its goal of becoming a developed country by 2047; affirming that the WFI 2024 Expo plays a platform to support, promote and encourage the connection of India's food processing industry with countries around the world, bringing India's food processing industry to the global level.
With a good traditional relationship, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and India, at World Food India 2024, Vietnam was selected as one of the two "Focus Country" countries with a booth area of nearly 200m2 displaying typical agricultural products and processed foods of more than 20 Vietnamese enterprises such as: fresh fruits, dried fruits, frozen durian, longan, dragon fruit, cashew nuts, coffee, tea, pepper, cinnamon, rice wine, instant noodles, instant pho... of companies such as 365 Café joint stock company, Hong Sang fruit company limited, Ngoc Binh rice wine, Uniben Company, Richy Joint Stock Company, Wakey coffee Company, Van Phong Tea Company Limited, ANTO tea company limited... The Vietnamese booth at the fair attracted a lot of attention and appreciation from Indian and other countries' companies as well as fair attendees, especially products such as dragon fruit and Vietnamese coffee that are popular in India. Indian market.
India is the most populous country in the world, with more than 1.4 billion people, and the Indian food market is huge and there is still much room for Vietnamese enterprises to explore and do business. India is the second largest country in the world in the field of food processing. The food processing industry in India currently contributes 13% of GDP, expected to reach 535 billion USD by 2025-2026 and a growth rate of 15% by 2030. The participation of Indian agricultural and processed food enterprises in the fair is a very favorable opportunity to access the Indian market, expand their business network and seek international cooperation opportunities, promote, develop products and penetrate deeper into this market.
