This information was announced by Ms. Åshild Nakken, Southeast Asia regional director of the Norwegian Seafood Council, at the strategic cooperation signing ceremony between the Norwegian Seafood Council and Golden Gate Group on November 27.
According to Ms. Åshild Nakken, Vietnam is one of the largest import markets for Norwegian seafood in Southeast Asia with key products such as salmon, brown crab, king crab... In the first 10 months of the year, Vietnam imported 24,000 tons of Norwegian salmon.
In addition to fresh salmon, frozen salmon products, especially salmon belly meat, are also consumed strongly due to the demand for sushi dishes.
For king crab and brown crab, Vietnam reached a consumption level of about 350 tons in the first 10 months of 2024, of which Norway accounted for 54%. For brown crab alone, Norway accounted for 76% of the market share in the Vietnamese market.
