Vietnam always values ​​and wishes to further deepen cooperation with the World Bank.

On October 10, on the occasion of attending the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related Summits in Vientiane, Laos, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Ms. Manuela Ferro, Vice President of the World Bank (WB) in charge of the East Asia and Pacific region.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the WB's Strategic Vision on "Building a world without poverty on a livable planet", with a focus on sustainable development and green transformation. The Prime Minister thanked and appreciated the WB's active support for Vietnam's socio-economic development over the past 30 years, affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to further deepen cooperation with the WB.

Sharing about the situation and policies for Vietnam's socio-economic development and prioritizing the implementation of three strategic breakthroughs, the Prime Minister asked the WB to continue supporting and providing preferential loans to implement key projects on high-speed railways, subways, seaports and large airports.

Ms. Manuela Ferro congratulated and expressed her impression of Vietnam's recent socio-economic development achievements; affirmed that the WB is committed to continuing to cooperate closely and effectively with Vietnam on the journey to realize the goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045. Ms. Manuela Ferro actively supported Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposals on prioritizing support for key, large-scale infrastructure development projects.

The WB Vice President pledged to support Vietnam to participate more deeply in the global supply chain, maintain economic growth and attract high-quality investment in the context of many difficulties in the world and the region. Ms. Manuela Ferro also shared that the WB is looking to diversify financial sources to reduce interest rates for development assistance loans.

The two sides agreed to strengthen the harmonization of procedures and processes in negotiations. Signing loans to secure cooperation projects deployed quickly and effectively.
