Information at the workshop showed that, in the context of Vietnam aiming to train 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030 according to the Government's orientation, building a synchronous training ecosystem - connecting schools, businesses and international organizations - is an urgent requirement.

Experts at the workshop said that the microchip industry - a field considered the "heart" of the digital economy, needs to be focused on by universities in Vietnam.

In that process, it is necessary to build an educational-enterprise cooperation ecosystem, including foreign enterprises, which is a sustainable development model for semiconductor human resources in Vietnam.

With this model, students are not only trained in basic knowledge but also experience internship programs at corporate projects early on.

Mr. Vu Tien Thinh, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center, said that the goal of training 50,000 semiconductor workers by 2030 is not only to work in Vietnam, but also to work in foreign corporations and then return to Vietnam, so the training requirements must meet international standards.

“For example, the chip manufacturing industry has great potential for human resources. It is difficult to study, but the results will be very sweet,” Mr. Thinh told students.

Mr. Vu Anh Tu, Technology Director of FPT Corporation, said that in 2025, FPT aims to train 2,500 semiconductor engineers; by 2023, train 10,000 semiconductor engineers. The demand for semiconductor human resources is very large, because there are currently many large partners investing in research centers and semiconductor businesses in Vietnam.

“25 years ago, Vietnam strived to become a leading country in information technology, and now there are 1 million people working in this field, which is a miracle. Now we are taking the first step in the journey of training semiconductor human resources, we aim for Vietnam to become a semiconductor country, with an abundant semiconductor workforce,” Mr. Tu shared.

The conference also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the parties and the awarding of scholarships to semiconductor technology students under the international cooperation program between Asia University, Taiwan and FPT University, opening up opportunities for study abroad, internships and employment at leading corporations in the "capital of the semiconductor industry" for the young generation of Vietnam; awarding scholarships to semiconductor students.
