Within the framework of the 16th ASEAN Ministers on Information (AMRI 16) held in Da Nang City, on the morning of September 23, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung had a meeting with Mr. Pehin Dato Haji Awang Halbi, Minister in charge of government news and television at the Office of the Prime Minister of Brunei.

At the meeting, the two Ministers shared issues such as social network management, digital transformation in the fields of journalism, broadcasting, and content management on social networks.

Leaders of the two ministries took a souvenir photo at the meeting.

Vietnam and Brunei proposed to cooperate and share experiences in managing information content on social networks and handling fake news; and cooperate and share experiences in digital transformation of journalism.

Brunei is currently prioritizing the handling of fake news, toxic news, and building a healthy and safe cyberspace through a number of mechanisms such as: National hotline; Government Committee on Countering Fake News; Awareness campaign for people through government television, radio and social media accounts.

The Prime Minister's Office maintains direct and regular contact with social media platforms to remove fake news when urgently requested.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung received a gift from the Minister in charge of government news and television at the Office of the Prime Minister of Brunei.

The 16th ASEAN Information Ministers Meeting is of great significance, demonstrating Vietnam's proactive and responsible role in multilateral diplomacy and affirming the significance of ASEAN cooperation.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam said that Vietnam chose the theme for this conference: "Media: From Information to Knowledge for a Resilient and Adaptive ASEAN".

The theme highlights the role and mission of the media sector in the new period, making information the driving force of development, not only providing information, but also promoting the transformation from information to knowledge, to build a self-reliant ASEAN, strengthen internal capacity, resilience and adaptability to affirm the role and position of ASEAN not only inward-looking, but also ready to respond to fluctuations in the current world situation.
