
Chess player Nguyen Vu Bao Chau won the championship.
The tournament took place from April 25-29, with the participation of 375 young players from 43 countries and territories, competing in 6 groups: U8, U10 and U12 for men and women. The Vietnam Chess Team participated with 15 players.
On the final day of competition (April 29), Vietnam fully participated in the Blitz chess matches for men and women in the U8, U10 and U12 age groups.
As the No. 1 seed in the U8 women's group with an Elo rating of 1,607, Nguyen Vu Bao Chau - a promising young player of Vietnamese Chess - won all 11 games, thereby achieving the maximum of 11 points, winning the championship. Bao Chau's Gold medal is also the only Gold medal of the Vietnamese Chess Team at this tournament. Previously, Bao Chau also excellently won the Silver medal in the Rapid Chess event.
Also in the Blitz Chess event, in the U10 male age group, young player Nguyen Truong An Khang achieved a total of 10 points after 11 games, thereby winning a Silver medal. In the U12 female age group, player Nguyen Minh Chi achieved a total of 7.5 points, ranked third overall and won a Bronze medal. At the end of the tournament, the Vietnamese Chess Team won 1 Gold medal, 2 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal.
