On the morning of November 11, the opening ceremony of the program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023" took place in Hue city.
This is an activity organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations (1962-2023) and the 46th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries (1977-2023).
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam; Mr. Phosy Keomanivong - Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos; Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, along with leaders of localities, departments and people of Vietnam and Laos.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam shared about the close friendship between the people of the two countries and the achievements of cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in many fields, especially in the field of information and communications in recent years.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, over the past 6 decades, the relationship between the two countries in all fields has achieved many important results. Laos always ranks first among 79 countries and territories where Vietnam is investing abroad, with 241 projects, total investment capital up to nearly 5.5 billion USD.
Vietnam ranks third among countries in the world investing in Laos, especially in the fields of communications and information technology cooperation. Large Vietnamese technology corporations such as VNPT, Viettel, FPT... have invested tens of millions of USD in Laos, helping to cover the 4G network and bring high-speed internet to all people.
"The Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023 is not only a cultural and artistic exchange activity between the people of the two countries, but also a bridge for trade, trade promotion, and promotion of product brands of Vietnamese enterprises with Lao enterprises.
This is also an opportunity for the two countries to discuss bilateral cooperation programs to develop digital technology industry, digital infrastructure, digital trade, digital economy, digital investment, especially digital transformation in the field of press and media," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam at the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phosy Keomanivong - Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos - said this is an important event of the two Parties and two states of Vietnam and Laos.
According to Mr. Keomanivong, information and communication have always been considered a prominent field in the relationship between Laos and Vietnam, in line with the viewpoints, guidelines and policies of the Party, State and people of the two countries in the work of preserving, connecting, strengthening the special relationship and comprehensive cooperation, and enhancing the traditional friendship between Laos and Vietnam.
