According to the Wealth Report of Knight Frank (UK), the number of super-rich people in Vietnam in 2023 increased by 2.4% compared to the previous year, to 752 people. This growth rate is quite high in the Asia- Pacific region.
The super-rich are individuals who must own assets of 30 million USD or more (about more than 740 billion VND according to the exchange rate of 24,820 VND/USD announced by Vietcombank on March 13).
In Southeast Asia, Vietnam's super-rich growth rate is much higher than Thailand's 0.8% increase, but lower than Malaysia's 4.3% and Indonesia's 4.2%, or Singapore's 4%.
However, according to Knight Frank, from 2023 to 2028, the growth rate of super-rich people in Vietnam will be the fastest in the world , ranking 5th in the Asia-Pacific region (with an increase of 30%), only behind India (+50.1%), China (+47%), Turkey (+42.9%), Malaysia (+34.6%).
The growth rate of Vietnam's super-rich is forecast to be higher than that of South Korea, Hong Kong (China), and Singapore in the period 2023-2028.
According to Knight Frank, by 2028, Vietnam will have 978 super-rich people.

The growth rate of the super-rich in Vietnam is recorded quite high in the context of Vietnam's economy growing quite well compared to the world and the middle class growing strongly.
Knight Frank has not released the list of Vietnam’s super-rich. However, on the stock market, there are about 180 businessmen and their relatives with assets from stocks worth over 30 million USD, including 6 USD billionaires.
6 USD billionaires
According to Forbes, in the list of world USD billionaires, as of March 13, Vietnam has 6 representatives, with a total asset value of 14 billion USD. Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of Vingroup Corporation (VIC) is at the top of the list.
Of which, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong has assets of 4.4 billion USD. Chairwoman of VietJet Air (VJC) Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is in second place with 2.8 billion USD. Chairman of Hoa Phat (HPG) Tran Dinh Long is in third place with 2.6 billion USD. Chairman of Techcombank (TCB) Ho Hung Anh, Chairman of Thaco Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of Masan (MSN) Nguyen Dang Quang are in the next positions with 1.8 billion USD, 1.2 billion USD and 1.2 billion USD respectively.
Compared to the 2022 ranking, the number of USD billionaires in Vietnam decreased by 1 person. Novaland Chairman Bui Thanh Nhon dropped out of the list when Novaland shares (NVL) fell sharply in 2022 and 2023. At the beginning of 2022, Mr. Bui Thanh Nhon had assets of 2.9 billion USD.
About 180 super rich people on the stock market
The list of 752 super-rich Vietnamese in 2023 was not announced by Knight Frank. However, on the stock exchange, there are about 180 businessmen and related people with assets from stocks worth over 30 million USD and are super-rich.
