At the opening ceremony of the 15th International Exhibition on Machinery and Equipment for the Wood Processing Industry 2023 (VietnamWood 2023), taking place on September 20, Mr. Phung Quoc Man - Vice President of the Handicraft and Wood Processing Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA) - said: According to some signals recorded in the international market, inflation in the US is gradually decreasing, the consumer price index is starting to increase again, furniture inventories are decreasing, the construction industry is experiencing an increase in demand... At the same time, according to data from Vietnam Customs, since the beginning of the third quarter of 2023, Vietnam's wood export situation has shown positive signs of recovery. Export turnover in August 2023 reached over 1.1 billion USD after a long period of decline.

According to Mr. Man, Vietnam is currently the fifth largest exporter of wood products in the world with a significant demand for wood processing machinery and components. On average, Vietnam imports about 240 million USD worth of wood processing machinery each year.
“VietnamWood 2023 exhibition takes place at the right time when the wood industry is showing signs of recovery, preparing to enter a new cycle after a long period of challenges due to economic fluctuations,” Mr. Man assessed.
It is known that VietnamWood 2023 attracts more than 320 exhibitors of more than 600 booths from 28 countries and territories; introducing the latest wood processing product lines, and participating in professionally organized events and activities.
In parallel, the International Exhibition on Furniture, Hardware and Tools for the Wood Industry 2023 (Furnitec 2023) is also held in conjunction.
Both events take place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) from September 20-23, 2023.

According to the reporter, at this year's exhibition, the world's advanced wood processing technologies, smart factory solutions, and many new applications of raw materials and accessories from European countries, Taiwan, China and more than 20 countries and territories... were vividly introduced.
"VietnamWood 2023 has gone through 15 exhibitions, marking the journey of accompanying the development of the Vietnamese wood industry. The exhibition has become a prestigious trade and technology platform for the wood processing industry in Southeast Asia. This is also the only exhibition confirmed by the European Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers Federation in Vietnam. I believe this will be a promising exhibition with a lot of useful information and effective trading opportunities for businesses" - Mr. Man expected.
According to HAWA, from May 2023 to now, Vietnam's wood and wood products exports have shown positive signs of recovery, reaching an average of over 1.2 billion USD/month. It is forecasted that from now until the end of the year, wood and wood products exports may reach an additional 6 billion USD, bringing the total export turnover in 2023 to about 14 - 14.5 billion USD. |
