Vietnam-Algeria promote economic cooperation commensurate with political relations

On the afternoon of September 15, at the National Convention Center (My Dinh, Hanoi), National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received Vice President of the Algerian National Assembly Monder Bouden.

Warmly welcoming Vice President of the National Assembly Monder Bouden and the delegation of young Algerian parliamentarians to Vietnam to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that this demonstrates the traditional friendship between the two countries, the support of Vice President of the National Assembly Monder Bouden and the Algerian National Assembly for Vietnam, and contributes significantly to the overall success of the conference.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Vietnam and Algeria are two long-standing traditional friends, having established diplomatic relations since 1962. Vietnam consistently pursues an independent and self-reliant foreign policy for peace, friendship, cooperation and development; is a friend, reliable partner and responsible member of the international community. Vietnam prioritizes consolidating and developing friendly and cooperative relations with traditional friends, including Algeria.

On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Algeria for their great support for Vietnam in the past struggle to defend the Fatherland as well as in the current national construction.

Thanking National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue for taking the time to welcome him, the Vice Chairman of the Algerian National Assembly personally congratulated the National Assembly Chairman and the Organizing Committee on the excellent organization of the conference, and expressed his gratitude for the hospitality of the Vietnamese National Assembly delegates.

The Vice President of the Algerian National Assembly highly appreciated the Seminar on “Digital Capacity Building for Youth”, the Opening Ceremony, the First Plenary Session and the Second Plenary Session of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians. The Algerian National Assembly’s young parliamentary delegation has made positive contributions to these activities.

Vice President of the National Assembly Monder Bouden respectfully conveyed the warmest greetings and congratulations from the President of the Algerian National Assembly to President of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue; at the same time, on behalf of the State and people of Algeria, he expressed sincere thanks to the State and people of Vietnam for always providing Algeria with practical help and support in the process of national construction and development.

The two leaders said that although Vietnam and Algeria are geographically far apart, they have a very close and cordial relationship. In the coming time, the two countries need to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation to match the excellent political and diplomatic relations and great potential of each country.

The Vice President of the Algerian National Assembly affirmed that Algeria is ready to act as a bridge and gateway for Vietnam to penetrate the African market; expressed admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and wished that more Vietnamese investors would invest in Algeria.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge and gateway for Algeria to penetrate the ASEAN market - a dynamic market with 650 million people and the 5th largest economy in the world.

The Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries is scheduled to meet at the end of September. The two leaders expressed their belief that this is an important occasion for the two sides to discuss solutions to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation. Believing that the two countries need to promote more strongly the exchange of delegations at all levels, the two leaders also welcomed the strengthening of friendship, cooperation and exchanges between localities of the two countries.

Parliamentary cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria is very good. The Vice President of the Algerian National Assembly expressed his hope that in the near future, the two sides will promote the exchange of delegations of the Friendship Parliamentary Groups of each country; and requested the Vietnamese National Assembly to support the Algerian National Assembly to become an observer of AIPA.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectfully invited the Algerian National Assembly Chairman to soon pay an official visit to Vietnam, expressing that he would soon pay an official visit to Algeria.
