According to a VNA correspondent in Algiers, on December 12, the Hanoi Construction Corporation reached a preliminary cooperation agreement with Algerian partner Copresud, moving towards establishing a joint venture company operating in the construction sector to participate in bidding and implementing civil works in this North African country in the coming time. From December 6 to 12, a Vietnamese business delegation including two enterprises operating in the construction and human resource supply (labor export) sectors, namely the Hanoi Construction Corporation and VINA-MEC HR Human Resources and Trade Joint Stock Company, visited and worked, meeting with Algerian partners to promote the implementation of future cooperation activities. This is the initial result of activities to strengthen connectivity and promote economic cooperation that the Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Algeria have actively promoted in recent times. In Algeria, the Vietnamese business delegation had specific meetings and working sessions with 4 construction partners and 3 labor export partners. Mr. Bui Trong Truong, General Director of Construction Joint Stock Company No. 2 - Hanoi Construction Corporation, said: "When we came here, we saw the potential and clear cooperation opportunities that bring benefits to construction enterprises in particular and society in general. We will try our best to turn these opportunities into specific tasks, implementing cooperation activities in the shortest time." For its part, the labor export enterprise VINA-MEC HR Human Resources and Trade Joint Stock Company, with the support of the Embassy, had effective working sessions and discussions on cooperation with Algerian partners to provide high-quality human resources to work in the Algerian market. Ms. Tran Hai Yen, General Director of VINA-MEC HR Joint Stock Company under Bach Viet Group, said that in the coming time, the company will implement a number of construction and mechanical contracts with attractive salaries and good conditions in this market. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, VINA-MEC had a period of sending about 2,000 workers to Algeria to work. In addition, during their time in Algeria, the business delegation also studied the market for green tea, olive oil, dates, chocolate, cakes and met with other potential partners in this North African country. The businesses participating in this working group are among the first to proactively seek opportunities and resume business activities in Algeria. Mr. Pham Ngoc Binh, representative of the unit promoting and organizing the Vietnamese business delegation to seek business cooperation opportunities this time, assessed Algeria as a very potential market with many opportunities for Vietnamese businesses. In the coming time, this unit will continue to connect to bring more businesses to explore and develop the market. Vietnam and Algeria have a good traditional friendship. However, due to the remote geographical conditions, economic development cooperation activities are still somewhat modest. Trade turnover between the two countries only reached about 300 million USD in 2023. Currently, apart from the oil and gas joint venture operating and exploiting effectively at the Bir Seba field, almost no large Vietnamese enterprises have set up business headquarters in Algeria and vice versa. The signing of the establishment of joint ventures is opening up a new direction for promoting economic exchanges between the two countries, in line with the foreign investment encouragement policy that the Algerian Government is actively implementing./.
