On the evening of November 29, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) finalized the personnel plan ahead of the 2024 AFF Cup. Mr. Pau Marti Vicente officially became the head coach of the country's national team participating in the 2024 Southeast Asian Football Championship.

After Kim Pan-gon asked to terminate his contract early and return to his hometown to lead Ulsan Hyundai, Pau Marti Vicente took over as interim coach. Basically, the Spanish coach showed some positive qualities in terms of expertise. The Malaysian team played enthusiastically and disciplined but still maintained the good organization as in the previous period.

Coach Park Hang Seo will not lead the Malaysian team.

Coach Park Hang Seo will not lead the Malaysian team.

A few months ago, coach Park Hang Seo emerged as a potential candidate to lead the Malaysian national team. FAM leaders themselves confirmed to the media that they were particularly interested in Mr. Park Hang Seo. The actual negotiation process has taken place. The two sides have some consensus on goals and football development strategies, but no contract has been signed yet.

At this point, Mr. Park Hang Seo will no longer have the opportunity to face the Vietnamese team at the AFF Cup 2024. FAM itself will wait for the results that coach Pau Marti Vicente brings before finalizing a long-term contract with this young strategist.

At the AFF Cup 2024, the Malaysian team is in Group A with Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore and Timor Leste. The Malaysian team does not have the strongest squad for this year's tournament. Many players cannot play for the national team because the Malaysian National Championship is still ongoing.
