On the afternoon of August 29th, at a press conference on the socio -economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, shared information regarding a group of 4,500 tourists from India who visited Vietnam but did not choose Ho Chi Minh City as their destination.

According to Mr. Hoa, this is the largest group of tourists from India to visit Vietnam ever, and a positive sign for Vietnam's tourism industry at the end of the year.
However, this group of tourists chose to visit destinations in Hanoi , Ninh Binh, and Quang Ninh instead of Ho Chi Minh City.
Explaining this, Mr. Hoa said that, according to the travel trends of Indians, when visiting a country for the first time, they usually prioritize visiting the capital first. Then, they explore other cities on subsequent trips.
That is also why Ho Chi Minh City, despite being an attractive destination, was not chosen by the 4,500 Indian tourists on this trip.

Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa emphasized that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has always identified the Indian tourist market as the fastest-growing market currently, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2022 and 2023, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed groups of approximately 1,000 Indian tourists.
Ho Chi Minh City also has the most direct flights from India and the highest number of direct airlines compared to other provinces and cities. The city is always actively promoting and marketing to the Indian market, a market with high spending power.
At the same time, there is regional cooperation with surrounding provinces and cities to promote tourism development.
Mr. Hoa added that at the upcoming international tourism conference, Ho Chi Minh City will also organize a series of activities related to the Indian market, such as a seminar on Halal food, and the Indian Consulate General will host a seminar to promote tourist exchange between Vietnam and India.
"Ho Chi Minh City always focuses on the Indian market and is ready to welcome large delegations to Ho Chi Minh City," Mr. Hoa said.
