According to the General Department of Taxation, currently, legal regulations and procedures related to tax settlement and personal income tax refund have been fully developed and issued. In recent times, the tax sector at all levels has promoted policy dissemination, propaganda to support taxpayers and strengthened personal income tax management and processing of personal income tax refund dossiers.

Regarding the key reasons leading to the delay in processing personal income tax refunds, the General Department of Taxation said that individual taxpayers have difficulty understanding specific regulations related to personal income tax refunds, leading to incorrect and incomplete declarations of income sources, deducted taxes, incorrect declarations of deductions for dependents, and incorrect submission of documents to the wrong tax authority...

"Therefore, tax authorities need to carry out inspection and comparison steps to control risks and ensure the results of file processing," said the General Department of Taxation.

In the coming time, the General Department of Taxation said it will continue to direct tax authorities at all levels to promote the timely and proper settlement of personal income tax refunds, while actively implementing programs and plans to support taxpayers.

In addition, the Tax sector has been focusing on researching and proposing amendments to legal documents to simplify processes and procedures and promote the modernization of information technology applications to support the settlement of personal income tax refund dossiers more conveniently and quickly.

On the other hand, to support taxpayers in making tax settlement and personal income tax refund more conveniently and accurately, the Tax sector will continue to enhance the upgrading of information technology applications (eTax Mobile, Icanhan) to facilitate taxpayers in looking up information for tax settlement declaration and personal income tax refund (information on income sources, deducted tax amounts, information on registration for dependent family deductions, social insurance contributions, etc.).
