Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc, Head of the Organizing Committee of Vietnam Professional Football Tournaments 2023-2024, General Director of VPF, said: "Regarding the content of prosecuting 5 players of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Football Club for gambling, to ensure the completeness, accuracy, transparency of information and timely coordination in handling and resolving related matters, VPF and the tournament's Organizing Committee have sent a document requesting Ba Ria-Vung Tau Football Club to specifically report issues related to the incident on February 1."

"Receiving information from the authorities about the violations of a group of players in competing in the National First Division Football Tournament in the 2023/24 season, the Board of Directors of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Football Club decided to strictly handle the violations by terminating the labor contracts with the violating individuals according to regulations. In addition, the Club is always willing to cooperate and provide evidence within its capacity to serve the investigation of the authorities.

In recent years, in addition to constantly improving the professional quality and image of tournaments, VFF and VPF have always paid special attention to preventing and combating negativity in the system of professional football tournaments in Vietnam.

Currently, VFF has signed a coordination regulation on crime prevention and law violations in football with the Criminal Police Department (C02) - Ministry of Public Security. In addition to regular information exchanges with Vietnamese authorities, VFF and VPF also receive active support from partners of FIFA and AFC.

Regarding the case of 5 players of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Club suspected of betting, according to the initial investigation results, in the match between Ba Ria-Vung Tau Club and SHB Da Nang Club within the framework of the Sao Vang Cup taking place on December 24, 2023 at Ba Ria Stadium, the players including goalkeeper NSH (30 years old, from Dong Thap), striker PVP (20 years old, from Hai Duong) and 3 midfielders including LBGH (22 years old, from Thanh Hoa), NQH (20 years old, from Dong Nai), TKA (20 years old, from Ben Tre), discussed and agreed to play below their ability, and these subjects bet on SHB Da Nang Club to win on football betting websites. As a result of the match, SHB Da Nang Club won Ba Ria-Vung Tau Club with a score of 3-1.

On the morning of February 1, the Investigation Police Agency of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province initiated a case and prosecuted 5 players of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Club to investigate and clarify their gambling behavior.
