Goalkeeper Filip Nguyen has been named in the preliminary list of the Vietnamese team participating in the 2023 Asian Cup. However, this player's profile is still waiting for approval from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

According to the latest information, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has sent a preliminary list of 50 players to register with the AFC before the 2023 Asian Cup. Of which, goalkeeper Filip Nguyen has been named by coach Troussier. This is the next good news for this goalkeeper after completing the procedure for naturalization in Vietnam.
However, Filip Nguyen still needs to go through the AFC approval process to officially wear the Vietnamese national team jersey. According to VFF, Filip Nguyen was once called up to the Czech Republic national team but was not allowed to play. Therefore, this approval process is not too complicated.
A few days ago, Filip Nguyen said: "I am ready to wear the Vietnamese national team jersey but I am not an official member yet. I have not been called up yet and need to try my best. Hopefully that will help me join the Vietnamese national team."
In the coming time, the goalkeeper born in 1992 needs to prove his ability to coach Troussier to be named in the official list of 23 players participating in the 2023 Asian Cup.
Foreign press highly appreciates Filip Nguyen's talent. Football Trible (Japan) commented: "In the past, Filip Nguyen was called up to the Czech Republic national team but did not have the opportunity to play. This is a goalkeeper who has experience playing in European Cups and made a certain mark.
Currently, the Vietnamese team has two quality goalkeepers, Filip Nguyen and Dang Van Lam, who used to play for Cerezo Osaka Club.
They are all quality goalkeepers but coach Troussier seems to be aiming for a goalkeeper who can develop the ball to suit the modern style of play.
Therefore, Filip Nguyen is rated higher than Dang Van Lam. Filip Nguyen and the Vietnamese team will be a 'tough' opponent for the Japanese team."
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will gather on December 28. After that, Coach Troussier and his students will move to Qatar from January 5, 2024.
At the 2023 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team is in Group D and will meet Japan (January 14), Indonesia (January 19) and Iraq (January 24).
