VOV.VN - 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the Berlin Marathon. From a small race in the Grunewald forest, the race has become a global marathon highlight, fueling passion and creating impressive records.
On September 29, at the international marathon in Berlin, the capital of Germany, Pham Tien San, a Vietnamese athlete, achieved excellent results with a wonderful performance. Although it was his first time participating in a race in Europe, surprisingly, San achieved a new personal record, completing the Berlin Marathon with a time of 2:22:46. This impressive effort brought San into the top 100 overall, ranked 87th.

San shared: "I have prepared and set myself a goal when attending the tournament. Although there is a bit of regret, it will be one of the best memories of an athlete's life."

In addition, the Berlin Marathon this time is attended by promising names. In the women's category, athlete Tigist Ketema from Ethiopia won with an excellent performance. She achieved an amazing result when she led by 2 minutes and 6 seconds. Notably, although this is only Tigist Ketema's third marathon, the time of 2:16:42 has put her in the top 3 in the 50-year history of the Berlin Marathon. This record marks her first World Major Marathon title, following a spectacular victory in Dubai earlier this year. At home, Sebastian Hendel and Melat Kejeta were the fastest German athletes with times of 2:07:33 and 2:23:40 in the men's and women's categories, respectively. Sebastian Hendel himself was the first German athlete to cross the finish line in this race. It is known that the common choice of Pham Tien San as well as the above athletes at the Berlin Marathon 2024 is the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 shoe. Launched right before the Berlin Marathon last year, the shoe helped female athlete Tigist Assefa become the current world record holder in the women's marathon. Thus, this year alone, Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 has accompanied the champions in four major international Marathon races. Not only was Tigist Ketema's victory at the Berlin Marathon this time around, but so was Peres Jepchirchir's history-making performance in the UK, Sisay Lemma's convincing performance in Boston and Benson Kipruto's success in the Japanese capital earlier this year. Since its launch in September 2023, the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 has helped adidas athletes break two world records and win 22 major races, including four national records, four track records and one Olympic record.
