More than 70 million people visited the City of Light this year (thanks to the Summer Olympics), and the metropolis is more than ready for them thanks to its excellent tourism policies and infrastructure, according to a report by data analytics firm Euromonitor International. The index looks at top cities around the world and ranks them according to criteria including tourism, sustainability, economic performance, health and safety, according to CNN. Europe dominates the 2024 rankings with 6 cities in the top 10. Madrid is in 2nd place, Rome and Milan are in 4th and 5th place, Amsterdam is in 7th place and Barcelona is in 10th place. In Asia, in addition to Tokyo and Singapore in the top 10, there are many other high-ranking cities such as: Taipei (11), Seoul (12), Dubai (14), Osaka (16), Bangkok (17), Hong Kong (21), Kuala Lumpur (31)... The two representatives of Vietnam are Ho Chi Minh City in 76th place and Hanoi in 83rd place.

For the top cities by international arrivals, the Asia-Pacific region has the lead, with Tokyo in third place, Sydney in eighth and Singapore in ninth. Euromonitor International said nearly 13 million international trips to Tokyo were recorded in 2024, significantly higher than pre-pandemic levels.
New York, at number 6, is the only US city in the top 10. New York takes the top spot in the tourism performance category, with high domestic and international demand. Bangkok is the top city for tourism policy and attractiveness, and will also be the world's number one city by 2024 for international arrivals. Euromonitor International reports a whopping 32.4 million international trips to Bangkok by 2024, nearly 10 million more than last year's number one city, Istanbul, which recorded 23 million trips in 2024.
