The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced that Nguyen Duc Chien, Dang Van Lam and Nguyen Thanh Nhan were returned to their clubs due to injuries.

Dang Van Lam suffered an Achilles tendon injury, Duc Chien suffered an injury to his left transverse pubic bone, while Thanh Nhan suffered an ankle injury. All three players were injured before the training camp and the team's medical team confirmed that they would not recover in time to join the team at the 2023 Asian Cup.

Dang Van Lam's injury is a big loss for the Vietnamese team because he is still the number one choice of coach Philippe Troussier in 2023. The goalkeeper of Binh Dinh Club was in good form in the V.League before getting injured and having to leave the field in the second half of the match against Hai Phong Club on December 27.

Dang Van Lam missed the opportunity to play in the 2023 Asian Cup.

Coach Philippe Troussier has only two goalkeepers left, Nguyen Dinh Trieu and Nguyen Filip. Among them, the opportunity to start is being opened for Nguyen Filip. He has a lot of experience playing in Europe, possesses good footwork skills, suitable for the French coach's ball deployment philosophy.
