Traffic culture - young people should not take it lightly

Traffic culture is not only understood as obeying the Traffic Law, but also fighting against traffic violations. Building a traffic culture is the responsibility of each individual. This issue is especially important for young people because it not only contributes to reducing traffic accidents but also forms a cultured and safe behavior when participating in traffic of the future owners of the country.

Traffic culture - young people should not take it lightly Youth union members are trained in driving skills to ensure safety when participating in traffic.

In recent times, the situation of traffic accidents in the province in particular and the whole country in general has not been controlled, especially traffic safety violations leading to traffic accidents involving young people always account for a worryingly high rate. Remember at the end of 2022, a serious traffic accident in Trieu Son district that killed 3 young people on the spot left many echoes that still shocked local people. All 3 young people were driving at high speed and were not wearing helmets. This is also a road section with a "black spot" for traffic accidents. Although warned by signs, it seems that many young people are still indifferent, not wearing helmets, weaving, speeding, and recklessly overtaking, leading to traffic accidents.

When participating in traffic, it is not difficult to see images of many young people, even students, speeding, recklessly overtaking, lacking awareness of traffic laws. Many rich kids, many of whom are under 18 years old, only ask their parents or older siblings to show them "a few basic roads" and then ride their motorbikes loudly on the street. The purpose is only to express their personality, these young people often drive side by side, in threes, in fours, weaving and weaving, causing "noisiness" in many neighborhoods and making passersby extremely frightened and indignant.

Traffic culture - young people should not take it lightly A traffic accident caused by disregard for the provisions of the Road Traffic Law.

Public opinion has many questions for young people about traffic culture, what should young people do to contribute to building traffic culture today? Is it true that a part of young people today like to "show off" by deliberately violating traffic laws!?

Mr. Le Anh Vinh, Trieu Son town, Trieu Son district, shared: “Many times when passing through intersections, I have witnessed accidents and collisions with my own eyes. Strangely, the drivers of vehicles passing through intersections, but they drive quite fast, especially many young people who ignore the danger, encroach on the main road to avoid bad, bumpy roads, despite everyone looking at them with uncomfortable eyes... The phenomenon of not wearing a helmet but still driving recklessly is a “common occurrence”...”.

Up to now, we often mistakenly think that traffic culture is only understood as obeying the Traffic Law, having the right attitude and behavior when participating in traffic. However, behaviors such as controlling anger when a traffic accident occurs, being ready to help people in traffic accidents... are also very important but are rarely mentioned. Especially, there are still many people who have an indifferent attitude, apathetic, considering other people's misfortunes "not their business". They even just stand and watch curiously, without thinking about caring for or treating the victims. Ms. Le Thi Phuong (Thanh Hoa City) recounted: "Not long ago, while I was walking on the road, I was hit from behind by two female students. Both me and that student fell, luckily the collision was light so both of us only suffered scratches on the skin. But strangely, although seeing the accident, the local people were still indifferent, not even running out to help...".

For a long time, many experts have considered the construction of traffic culture as an important measure to curb traffic accidents. Building traffic culture is the responsibility of each individual. This issue is especially important for young people because it not only contributes to reducing traffic accidents in a sustainable way but also forms a cultured and safe behavior when participating in traffic of the future owners of the country. Regarding this issue, Comrade Phung To Linh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, emphasized: “Building traffic culture is to help people have the right awareness and responsibility when participating in traffic, not only for their own benefit but also to ensure the safety of others. Therefore, each young person should take practical actions to contribute to building traffic culture. Traffic accidents can only be reduced when everyone's awareness is raised, in which young people play the first and foremost role”.
