Mr. Zhang Jun, an official of the Nanning Railway Logistics Center, told a reporter from the China Economic Daily that last year, before the China-Vietnam express train was launched, there were only 1-2 trips per week. Up to now, this train has basically run every day, sometimes up to 3 trips per day during peak periods, with huge transportation demand. It is known that this railway line was launched on November 28, 2017, with the first cross-border container train running from Nanning South Station, Guangxi to Yen Vien Station, Hanoi. From June 2023, the Chinese railway industry will start operating China-Vietnam express trains regularly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week. The travel time from Nanning South Station to Yen Vien Station is now only 14 hours, the efficiency of cargo transportation time has increased by 70% compared to the original, helping goods to depart, arrive and clear customs on the same day. In the past 5 years, the types of imported and exported goods transported on this railway have increased from 116 types and 14 types in 2019 to 364 types and 180 types at present. Cargo collection points have covered more than 20 cities in Guangxi and neighboring provinces of China, transporting goods across borders to ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Chinese media said that the opening of the China-Vietnam railway line not only helps to consolidate and deepen the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, but also lays a solid foundation for building a more convenient and efficient international logistics network. Looking to the future, along with the increasingly expanding scale of bilateral trade between China and Vietnam, the China-Vietnam railway is expected to play a greater role, contributing more to the prosperity and development of international trade.
