High-tech organic vegetable growing model in Phu Loc |
Recently, the Agricultural Service Center (ASC) of Phu Loc district organized the application of new technology to agricultural production in the district. Many models adapted to potential conditions, climate, soil associated with processing and consumption of products have brought economic efficiency to farmers.
Farmer Tran Xuan Son of An Nong 1 Cooperative affirmed that, given current market demand, there is no other way but to change thinking, apply advanced technology, and introduce high-quality varieties into production to create products with high productivity and quality. Mr. Son has participated in the "three reductions, three increases" rice growing model, using biological products to prevent pests and diseases, which has really brought about efficiency in rice production.
Mr. Hoang Phi Cuong, Director of Phu Loc District Agricultural Extension Center, informed that recently, the district's agricultural sector has been interested in researching and introducing many new models into production, gradually meeting market demand in the face of new trends. Rice varieties with potential in terms of productivity, quality, "three reductions, three increases" have been put into production at cooperatives: An Nong 1, An Nong 2, Dai Thanh, Dong Xuan, Bac Son, Thuy An with rice varieties HG12, Ha Phat 3, HG244... Applying new farming methods not only improves rice productivity and quality but also contributes to reducing environmental pollution during the production process.
At My Hai Cooperative, the organic peanut growing model has been implemented since 2019 with an area of over 7 hectares, creating a source of safe and quality peanut oil products. The production model associated with peanut oil processing is being gradually expanded by farmers. Although the price of organic peanut oil is 250,000 VND/liter, twice as high as that of regular peanut oil, it is still trusted by many people, the source "supply does not meet demand".

Free range chicken farming model |
Although organic vegetable growing is not new in the province, it is a new direction for Phu Loc, bringing practical results to farmers. Products that are safe, high quality, and environmentally friendly are an inevitable trend today. In Vinh My commune, there are nearly 30 households growing organic vegetables with an area of nearly 3 hectares of lettuce, amaranth, jute, cucumber, herbs, watermelon, etc. The average organic vegetable output is 25 tons/year, consumed by businesses and companies at a price 1.5-2 times higher than that of conventional vegetables.
Through programs and projects, the Phu Loc District Agricultural Extension Center has coordinated with localities to implement a model of growing green-skinned grapefruit. Up to now, the area of green-skinned grapefruit in the district has reached 50 hectares, and is in the harvest stage. Through monitoring and evaluation, green-skinned grapefruit can be produced and developed well in many areas in the district. The current product price ranges from 30-35 thousand VND/kg, much higher than local grapefruit varieties. Along with green-skinned grapefruit, the district Agricultural Extension Center has also researched and planted a number of new varieties of oranges and tangerines with economic value in Loc Thuy commune with an area of 5 hectares. The crops are growing well and have many prospects for expanding the area in localities.
In Vinh My, Giang Hai, Vinh Hien, Loc Tien communes, asparagus has been planted on an area of nearly 1.5 hectares, a new crop in the province. To meet market demand and develop the economy of the district's farmers, Phu Loc District's Center for Agricultural Promotion is coordinating with businesses to expand the asparagus area and consume products. Although initially there were quite difficulties, Phu Loc's asparagus products are supplied to the market at a price of 60-70 thousand VND/kg.
With the advantage of a large garden model in the hilly area, the Phu Loc District Agricultural Extension Center has implemented a large-scale, systematic free-range chicken farming model. From the initial effectiveness, up to now, in Phu Loc District, there are 150 households raising free-range chickens in the hilly area with a scale of thousands of chickens/batch. The free-range chicken farming method creates delicious, quality products that are favored by the market and therefore easy to consume.
In the district, there are currently many agricultural extension models that bring high economic efficiency, such as raising flower eels in earthen ponds, intercropping shrimp, crabs, fish, straw rolling machine models... To effectively implement the models, it is necessary to mention the attention of the district's Center for Agricultural Extension in applying technology and plant protection. The unit does a good job of estimating and forecasting the situation of pests and diseases on crops and organizing effective prevention measures. In particular, it is necessary to mention the use of biological products to prevent pests and diseases, contributing to creating products that ensure quality and safety.
In recent years, the agricultural sector of Phu Loc district has effectively restructured agricultural production to exploit the potential and advantages of localities, gradually developing agricultural production in the direction of commodities. Departments and branches have increased the application of advanced technology, science and techniques in production to create products with guaranteed productivity and quality. Production associated with processing and product consumption has been gradually expanded, ensuring farmers' peace of mind about output, avoiding the situation of "good harvest, low price, good price, bad harvest". |
