According to the report of the design consultant, the joint venture of Vietnam Fine Arts and Construction Joint Stock Company - Green Building Quality Consulting Joint Stock Company, for the Unification Park Project at the special national relic site on both banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai, the renovation design plan includes: designing and re-planning the entire landscape garden of the North bank area with an area of about 6,000m2 . Restoring and embellishing items in the relic including: flagpole, complex house, Hien Luong bridge, Management Board office building, reception house, renovating the South bank toilet area and building a new symbol of the desire for peace.
For the project of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Site and the memorial sites of the 81 days and nights of fighting to protect the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, including: preserving and restoring a number of items at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Site, Long Hung Church and Bo De School.
The above two projects are invested by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, with implementation period from 2023 to 2025.
At the meeting, delegates also listened to Thanh Nam Consulting and Fine Arts Joint Stock Company report on the architectural plan for the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Monument Exhibition House.
After listening to the delegates' comments and concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized that this is a project to restore national relics, so the consulting unit must strictly comply with the planning.
It is recommended that the Thong Nhat Park project at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Relic Site be implemented on the principle of respecting the relic, not renovating or concreting the relic; choosing appropriate construction materials, ensuring the recognized originality. Renovating the landscape appropriately, prioritizing the proportion of trees.
Note, the consulting unit is studying the plan to replace the cable and flag hoisting system at the flagpole, determining a suitable location to build the 17th Parallel landmark to create a check-in point for visitors; renovating the entire area below the flagpole into a high-quality cinema room and accompanying services.
For the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Site Project and the memorial sites of the 81 days and nights of fighting to protect the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, the restoration plan must comply with the principle of preserving the original state of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel; the originality, scale and architectural form of the works still preserved are Long Hung Church and Bo De School.
For the renovation of the lake landscape outside Quang Tri Citadel, the requirement is that the water in the lake must be circulated to create a favorable living environment for aquatic species; the construction of additional steel sightseeing corridors around the Prison House requires calculating a suitable route for visitors.
Regarding the architectural plan of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Exhibition House, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that the name of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Museum must be kept. The design direction must apply high and modern technology, prioritizing digitalization and 3D to vividly recreate the story of the 81 days and nights of fighting to protect the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. Maximize the exhibition space and calculate the optimal operating plan.
At the same time, suggest design ideas in 2 directions, the traditional direction following the design of King Minh Mang; the modern direction researching stylized images of the bucket hat, bell..., in which the bucket hat image is prioritized. Determine the new construction location behind the current location to reduce pressure on the central monument.
Request the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to develop a specific implementation roadmap to ensure the set progress.
