On the morning of February 19, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu Viet Van worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri on the implementation of the National Forestry Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 related to Tam Dao National Park.

Tam Dao National Park was established in 1996 under Decision No. 136 dated March 6, 1996 of the Prime Minister. Of which, the area of special-use forest of Tam Dao National Park in Vinh Phuc province is 15,428.55 hectares, belonging to Tam Dao and Binh Xuyen districts.

Through the review and determination of overlapping areas and boundaries according to Decision No. 895, dated August 24, 2024 of the Prime Minister, in the province, there are 1,220.95 hectares in the two districts of Tam Dao and Binh Xuyen with overlapping, encroachment, and overcultivation. After the planning periods according to the National Forestry Planning, the area of Tam Dao National Park in the province decreased by 586.55 hectares, of which 67.71 hectares have been approved by the Prime Minister to change the purpose of forest use to other purposes.

At the meeting, Vinh Phuc province requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to adjust and transfer to the province the management of 518.84 hectares that were taken out of the planning of special-use forests of Tam Dao National Park according to Decision No. 895 of the Prime Minister; and directed relevant units to review the National Forestry Planning map system.

Strengthening guidance on procedures and steps to adjust and hand over to Vinh Phuc province to manage some areas within Tam Dao National Park that have been taken out of the planning according to Decision No. 895.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Quoc Tri requested the province to continue coordinating with relevant units to review the current status of forest land areas that have been removed from the planning; review and update forest land areas in land use plans; works and projects using forestry land; and carry out afforestation to replace converted areas.

At the same time, there is a plan to demarcate and set up markers for Tam Dao National Park to protect the current state of the forest and prevent encroachment. Implement well the work of arranging the organizational apparatus, ensuring the forestry sector operates effectively and efficiently. Promote digital transformation in forest care, protection and management, especially timely detection and early warning of forest fires.

Affirming the important role of Tam Dao National Park in the socio-economic development and ecosystem conservation of the province, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to preside over the field review and overlapping land boundaries assigned to State-owned companies and people. Review land use planning and plans; strengthen inspection and supervision of forest management and protection activities.
