The Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to a report on the plan to expand the scale of water supply for the Sub-project of Irrigation Development for High-Tech Agriculture in Nhon Hai - Thanh Hai.

The WEIDAP/ADB8 project is implemented in several provinces in the South Central and Central Highlands regions. In particular, our province implements 2 sub-projects, including: Sub-project 1 - Development of irrigation for high-tech agriculture Thanh Son - Phuoc Nhon and Sub-project 2 - Development of irrigation for high-tech agriculture Nhon Hai - Thanh Hai, with a total investment of more than 832 billion VND. According to preliminary calculations, when the project is completed, there will be a surplus of about 66 billion VND. Based on the surplus capital, the Provincial People's Committee proposed to expand Sub-project 2. Accordingly, the planned expansion scale will build a 19 km long water supply system and booster pumping stations to supply water from Nhon Hai to Vinh Hy village, Vinh Hai commune (Ninh Hai) to serve irrigation for about 200 hectares of high-value crops and share water resources for daily life, trade and services.

Concluding the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: The expansion of Sub-project 2 is consistent with the general objectives of the WEIDAP/ADB8 project as well as having great significance for the production and daily life of the people. Therefore, the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Agriculture and Rural Development quickly deployed a survey and assessment of water demand and water supply capacity when expanding the scale of water supply to Vinh Hy village. Based on the survey and assessment, the investment level in water supply infrastructure and techniques will be proposed to the Asian Development Bank for capital sources; urgently complete the survey, consultation and design documents so that the Provincial People's Committee can work with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Finance to adjust and expand the project.
