The draw put U23 Vietnam in Group D to meet Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Malaysia at the 2024 AFC U23 Championship.

Vietnam U23 is placed in the second seed group, along with South Korea, Australia and Iraq. According to the draw results, coach Philippe Troussier's team is in group D, facing Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Southeast Asian teams are divided into groups: Thailand in group C against Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Tajikistan; Indonesia against Qatar, Australia and Jordan.
The 2024 AFC U23 Championship will take place from April 15 to May 3, 2024, with four selected locations: Al Khor, Lusail, Al Rayyan and Doha (Qatar). These are all locations for matches at the 2022 World Cup.
Teams in each group will compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The top three teams at the 2024 AFC U23 Championship will qualify directly for the 2024 Paris Olympics as representatives of Asia.
Meanwhile, the fourth-placed team will play a play-off match with the fourth-placed representative of the African U23 Championship for a wildcard ticket to the Olympics in France next year.
The 2024 AFC U23 Championship has the participation of 15 teams including: U23 U23 Korea, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, UAE, Iraq, Thailand, China, Jordan, Kuwait, Tajikistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and host Qatar.
In the qualifying round, U23 Vietnam under the guidance of coach Troussier won the top position in Group C with 7 points. Accordingly, U23 Vietnam won Guam (6-0), Yemen (1-0) before drawing Singapore (2-2) in a match that was just a formality because they had already secured the top position.
This is the fifth time U23 Vietnam has participated in the AFC U23 Championship. Vietnam's best achievement in this tournament was winning the runner-up position in Changzhou (China) in 2018, under coach Park Hang Seo.
