In the opening match of the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship, Vietnam's U20 Women's Team faced a very strong opponent, Japan. With such a huge difference in skill level, Coach Akira Ijiri's team conceded 10 goals.
In the second match of the group stage taking place at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon (Vietnam time), the Vietnam U20 women's team faces another big challenge named North Korea.
The team has participated in the tournament 11 times, with the highest achievement being the championship in 2007 in Chongqing, China. Most recently, North Korea U20 won the runner-up position in 2019, which took place in Thailand.
Facing a strong opponent, the U20 Vietnam women's team still tried very hard. Coach Akira let the players boldly advance to find scoring opportunities.
In fact, the Vietnamese U20 women's team had a few chances but could not trouble the opponent's defense. Meanwhile, the North Korean U20 women's team only needed 52 minutes to decide the match, with 6 goals scored.
After two defeats with a total of 16 goals, the U20 women's team of Vietnam was eliminated in the group stage before one round. This was not a surprising result because the opponents of Minh Chuyen and his teammates were all very strong. In the preliminary match, coach Akira's team met China at 3:00 p.m. on March 10.
